Audiophiles needed....

My old JVC receiver crapped out this evening. I located a replacement on Craigslist, and sent the wife to go pick it up.

It's another JVC, this one being a JVC RX--905VTN. I haven't found much information at all on the interwebs about it. No pictures, no manual, no reviews...nothing.

What can you guys tell me about it? So far, I like the sound quality, which is far superior to my old receiver.

I'd like to be able to find a PDF manual for it, without having to pay for one.

There's an electronic repair shop on 837 in Dravosburg .I took my Pioneer in for repair a couple years ago. Tuner LCD worked but no audio out plus a few other things, $60 looky see and ended up about $100 total.
They were pretty quick too. I got an old JVC that has some bad switches and stronger on one side, I was thinking about dropping off.

I'll give them a call tomorrow, if I can't find a user's/owner's manual online.

This replacement sound awesome, but I mainly need guidance on the settings. The theater setting has way too much echo, and I would like some settings info to lessen some of those effects.

Well, that's more than what I had prior to posting...LOL

I spent a couple of hours messing around with it last night, and everything seems to work as it should. The previous owner didn't have the remote, but the one that came with the old system seems to work ok.

I noticed that there's settings that can be picked for different room sizes and such, which is more than the old one had. The Stadium setting is amazing, and will probably be used often during baseball season this year.

Well...that great deal I got wasn't so great after all. I didn't realize just how hot the receiver was going to get, and I parked the CD player on the top, just like I did to the old one that lasted for years. I woke up this morning, turned on the system, and the speakers started popping and buzzing. Apparently it's fried.

I sent my wife up to Best Buy to pick a new one up. After talking to the salesman she found, she called me and had him speak to me about what I needed. After a few minutes talking with him and bickering about pricing, I told my wife to give the salesman $179 for the following...

Pioneer 700W 5.1Ch. 3D PassThrough AV Home Theater Receiver VSX-522-K - Best Buy

I'm hoping that it's going to last for me. I like Pioneer, and have always trusted the brand to be quality.

My last system wasn't HDMI compatible, and sound was transferred via rca cables. I think sound should be better with this new set-up...I guess we'll find out when my son plays his video game this evening. The surround sound should really shine with the games.

No disrespect, but "audiophiles" would fall over with laughter at the equipment listing so far.

Not to sound like an a55hole, but ask me if I care...

When you begin a comment with "No disrespect", then it means you're going to be disrespectful.

I got the response I was looking for from others...no need for you to sully this thread.

Thanks for the info...

What was supposed to be the 522-K ended up being the 822-K. The salesman gave my wife the wrong receiver (I was purchasing a display model) by mistake. Once she got home with it, I realized the difference, and called him. The salesman my wife dealt with was actually the store manager. He told me not to worry about it, and enjoy the free upgrade.

Cheap, and upgraded...Not bad.

Anyway, after having boy child hook it up, setting up the surround parameters, and everything that goes with it, it sounds great for what it is. Having everything hooked up via HDMI made for a simple and clean wiring job, and the internet radio we can now stream through the stereo sounds pretty good.

The old Polk Audio speakers seem to have come back to life, as have the Cerwin-Vega towers.

I'm happy now.
