worst thing about it is you usually get that crap to get drunk, lets face it--there's no reason to buy it otherwise. Its so watered down you don't get drunk. You get fat. I'll stick to good stouts and Belgians one sip at a time. Or better yet wine.

Personally, I like Negra Modelo, but Xingu from Brazil. Portland craft brews are mostly good too.

This may be a workers/union-related (dare I say.... made-up,) issue. If AB has union workers? (which I do not know that they do.)

I just don't buy it (AB) is cooking the brew (so to speak) "at 8 or 9 plants" across the country in this manner.

It doesn't sound right to me.

Put me down as very *skeptical* @ this point........0_o

I'm a dyed-in-the-wool fan of ice cold Miller Lite when I drink beer. Used to like Coor's Light, but no more. If there's no Miller Lite, I'll have water/ice tea/diet-cola.......

I would bet heavily against AB actually being guilty of anything beyond making a crappy product.
Their QC is very tight, and BATF is very stringent regarding truth in labeling.
I also find it impossible to believe that they would potentially upset their apple cart for a small fraction of increased profit.

IF there is water being added, it would be far more likely that it is being done to lower the 'beer' to their typical standard, not to lower it beyond.
Maybe they have a huge batch of particularly potent rice which is generating a higher gravity than expected, and watering the finished product down is necessary to meet the %ABW that they claim.

I have never toured an AB facility, but I would guess that every batch is produced stronger than packaged, and has water added to achieve the spec they are looking for.
It is not an uncommon large scale brewing practice.
Making the beer stronger and adding water at the end gives you the ability to produce more beer which requires less room in vessels during the process.
If you make 5 bbls of beer in a 5 bbl system, and then add water at the end to make 7 bbls of product, then you have produced more product than your system can actually hold.
Greatly increases your output without increasing the size of your system.
These people are not stupid, nor are they inexperienced in brewing, despite the product that they choose to produce.

Totally agree. But I make one exception for Bud Light Lime. It's actually clean and refreshing and it's sitting next to the Guinness and Harp in the man fridge.
