CLA: wowsers. Mercedes manages to clone the worst traits of a Failswagon CC. Flunk-wheel-drive, so it will understeer like a dead pig. No rear headroom to speak of. Whoever came up with the "4 door coupe" meme should have their head bounced off the rear ceiling of one till they squeel.

Looks like a low-end C-class for Interstate-driving Americans who don't know any better.

FWIW, I don't consider much of what MB builds as acceptable 360*. For that reason, I've sworn-off buying new ones to buy used. The C-Class, personally I find too much BMW-like......why buy an MB at that price point when you can buy a Beemer. To me, the C-Class makes little sense. But I'm an old guy that believes that a Mercedes-Benz starts @ the E-Class level. Just my .02....

Same here.

I like them as an in-between a sedan and SUV. They are easy to get in and out of like a normal sedan, but offer the extra space of an SUV. Pretty practical unit, IMO.

Have you sat in/driven one yet?

And VW-CC? I don't see it at all. Looks more like the bigger brother CLS.

Not all FWD vehicles drive like utter cr@-p. I will admit I am not a fan of FWD, but they aren't all horrible. VW showed us this with the GTI, Ford with the Focus ST/RS, and Mini with the Cooper S.

I doubt he has... As per usual he criticizes cars he has no experience with. He won't like it because it's not a manual and may be too fast for him

That's right, I don't like non-electric cars with 2-pedal transmissions designed for cripples, fat porkers with bad knees, and ladyboys. In that respect, ALL HAIL NED LUDD!

Thats fine you dont like Automatic cars and enjoy a manual. But your choice of words in this thread and others really shows your maturity level...

"GLK = a fake little trucklet for insecure little soccer moooooomies who are too afraid to be seen in a wagon, since their mom drove one in the 80s. Worse MPG: check. Taller/worse handling: check. What redeeming traits does the thing have, other than making dumb bints and femme guys look butch?"

Where do you come up with this crap?

The huge grille star was once - up to about 1991 - reserved solely for the top of the line 560SEC and 560SL cars.

Now it's seen a,l over the model ine -- on the CLA, C class and even their mini vans and SUVs.

The cars now are built to a price point, and NOT first designed and engineered to a cost no object standard.

Not only has the brand name been cheapened by touting affordability over all else,QC and build quality has suffered and will continue to do so if this path is followed.

....and now drives a W212 E350 So if the new MB's are that bad why did you go and buy one? Iagree MB brand is not as rich as it once was. But that really all started with a W202. I cant judge the CLA yet because its not out...I will test drive it however to see if its any good and post a review. My only doubts are the price.

Pure unadulterated rage about there being very few decent new cars in this country. And a bit of market research which has actually said that soccer mooooomies don't want a wagon because they don't want the "same car their parents drove", and also feel safer in an SUV. Read "The Culture Code", by Clotaire Rapaille -- the Froggie headshrinker who convinced Chrysler to move to SUVs in the early 90s -- if you're interested.

The guy is a complete hypocrite, but he somehow manages to understand the insanity of the average American consumasheep all too well.

The more I look at their latest offerings the more it reinforces my opinion that Mercedes Benz ceased to exist with the end of the W140.

At least the Fiat I drove (not the rental) has a real transmission, was nice rough and crude, and could park and turn in narrow spaces. Yeah, it was FWD, but FWD feels a lot better in microcars than in regular-sized ones. The latter just feels wrong.

One of the few 2013 cars that doesn't make me want to facepunch the designers as soon as I get behind the wheel.

To his credit (I guess......) he was discerning enough to pass on the W212 E350 Bluetec, for a W212 gasser. I decided I don't want EITHER one of 'em.....

Instead, opting to find a suitable (for me) W211 E320 CDI or Bluetec.....

The captioned/LINKED 2014 E-Class diesel has "C-Class" written all over it - I PASS on it!

I drove a GLK rental one day & thought it was an OK little upper range economy vehicle.
Decent handling, acceptable acceleration, lots of driver seat room for a tall American body type.

But WTF do I know? I actually like ML's & GL's.
