UNC student faces possible expulsion for speaking out about alleged sexual assault

UNC
Are they seriously going to charge the rape victim? Does anyone in charge of that school have a brain?

A University of North Carolina student who says she was raped has been charged with violating the school's honor code and creating a hostile environment for her alleged attacker by speaking out about her ordeal.

Between this and the Duke Lacrosse incident a few years back, is there a healthy dose of bad LSD in NC's water?

Why would she tell school admin about the rape? You call the effin police...

The Honor Code needs to be changed.

Assuming She was raped and knows who did it this seems like a decent idea to me.
Why, becasue the alleged Rapeist is likey to have done it before and other potential Victims need to heed this info as a warning till the facts are clear.

I didn't know North Carolina was occupied by the Taliban.

The Lacrosse fiasco was later proven to be almost entirely a fabrication by the accuser.

The alleged rapist has not been to trial yet you want him treated as if he were an escaped convict. Thank goodness you're not in the jury pool.

What part of "alleged" eludes you?

Have rape victims never blamed the wrong man? Or fabricated a whole story?

PC speak strikes again.
When will we ever return to speaking the truth. There are many true things that may not be spoken due to possible PC considerations. Isn't it time to dump the whole PC concept?

Bot--I'd add, " and the Prosecutor" to your statement about the Duke lacrosse incident.

I'm aware of the Duke fiasco, and it looks like the lying bint involved killed someone a few years afterwards. Perhaps if they'd stuck her in prison for felony perjury and thrown away the key, that wouldn't have happened.

I want the alleged rapist to go to trial. However, the alleged victim should ALSO have her freedom of speech. Too much crazy of all types in the water down in NC.

This is more like reverse PC.

You mean it's okay to publicly slander a private citizen in the name of free speech?

Accusation is only slander if it's proven to be slander in a civil court. A victim has EVERY right to publicly accuse their assailant of a crime, however, if there's no evidence, the alleged assailant may be able to successfully sue for slander.

I don't believe she has named the alleged attacker.

The veracity of her story notwithstanding, it would seem as if the University Honor Court has created a bad situation for the entire school with their overly exuberant interpretation of the honor code.

Maybe these kids need to take a couple marketing classes in addition to law....
