How does this go togather?
A video or a Diagram/Pictures would help.

Together*
And in my experience, they do not go back together. I’ve always bought a new one and used the old as a Christmas ornament.

Step 1, Gather up all the pieces and throw them in the trash can.
Step 2, Visit your favorite Mercedes parts vendor. Step 3, Cough up 20-30$ Step 4, Install. While this is the smart ass version, it really is your best bet. If and when you do actually manage to assemble and install the one you have, 30$ will feel like a bargain.

accidently
I accidently took one apart while trying to remove it. I threw it in the trash. And I consider myself patient and determined. I guess I struggled with it for more than 30minutes before throwing in the trash.

Don't be mean it's really not that hard. The shiny guy on the right goes on first, then play with the others until it all fits. You want to have the springs pulling the star "down"
If you're missing the infamous pin a cut up cotter key works wonders.

I see only one spring, you'll need both. I've rebuilt 3 so far, my instructions below from an old post:
You need to install the small spring (there are two) on the star and properly insert it on the small U bracket to hold the star down to the base. Once you see the other end of the spring jutting out, insert that through the larger U bracket, but it won't go through. You have to use long nose pliers to pull it hard (yank the star 90 degrees backwards to hold it). Then with luck (or a friend) put in the small peg that holds the small spring down. Once done, put the star back up. But that's just half the story, you can't install it on the hood as the bracket will both be cupped together, you have to separate them. Now pull hard on the large U bracket downwards, twist it 90degrees so it rests on the elevated "platform" considering the star itself is upside down. Once you got it to hook on the platform, the star will be extremely hard to pull up out of the base (since the spring is now stretched). Now you can install it on the hood, make sure the smooth end of the platform faces forward, once done pop the hood open and look under the star, twist the large U bracket 90 degrees (forgot which way, you'll find out) until a large click will be heard.

Quoted for truth. I spent 2 hours getting a nice upper body workout with a stubborn O2 sensor tonight

Yes, the time I spent on my couch is money made in the life of a swing trader.
