Imagine if that sort of engineering talent was used constructively. End the WAR ON DRUGS, already!

Seems to me like getting a desired commodity into the eager to buy marketplace is pretty constructive, not to mention highly American in spirit.

Though I'm surprised they were "importing" from Mexico -- I thought most of the green stuff was produced locally, since it's easily amenable to growing indoors and doesn't care too much about climate.

13kg is a heavy projectile - I wonder if you could hear it coming (and know to get out of the way)

I suspect that they used one or two cylinders of the truck's motor as a compressor. Basically you can get a fitting that replaces the spark plug and uses the engine's compression to pump air. This being said, I'm not sure if the 150 or so PSI generated by an engine's compression ratio is enough to power a long-distance air cannon.

If the Air Tank is big enough the "goods" can be under pressure (even if it is decreaseing pressure) right to the point where they exit the Barrel/Pipe.

JC Whitney & company used to sell an Air Hose that screwed into the Engine by way of a Spark Plug Hole for emergency Tire inflation. But, I think they ment you just cranked the Engine and not starting it.

No: you started the engine. Cranking it would drain the battery before you inflated anything.

Given that anyone can buy in 2 states in the US, and drive it anywhere after that, this exercise in air mail is little more than an act of fleeting desperation, or is it dispersion…

But hey, if they're firing it across the border into Arizona, it may cause the 'zonies to mellow out and love each other rather than shooting each other. (Technically, it's still illegal by Federal law in CO and WA -- it's just not enforced significantly.)
