I did not want to quote all of post #30 but the same holds true to J.J. Jr. as he was pushing for a third airport in the Chicago area in Peotone IL I wonder who bought up the property where it was going to be. Those kind of deals that are called insider trading on Wall st. and are illegal, but are a major funders of political campaigns in devastated areas for personal profit. Those crooks instead of concentrating on what that area needs which are family values and jobs are ignored. There is no cost to the taxpayer to promote strong families and that is why the politicians poo poo it, and promise that they can do it for a vote.

P.S. What do you think about our state tax refund bonus $112.00 per taxpayer who filed a timely return last year due to a budget surplus.. Do you think that the people from the great state of Illinois with all of those great leaders are going to get more or less $$?
I'd rather see the money go back into the public education budget (where it came from.)

I would also if it were spent fairly. There are some school districts in Lake county that receive almost twice per student as my local district does. And you can now choose to mail a check to wherever you think it will do the most good. I am sure they will cash it.

the money paid back by the state to school corporations is based on the tax base in the school corporation boundaries. Its not fair of course, the poorest areas need more money to run their corporations but receive less.

Of course to send money to all areas equally would be socialistic, right?

(I would not have a problem with that).

i do not believe that the poorer areas need more money than areas with a higher tax base. They may need more than they are able to collect from the local property taxes but for the state to send greater than ten thousand per student is ridicules especially with the results that are delivered.

When you have low functioning kids, kids with learning disabilities, and kids with english as second language the only way to get ahead of the curve with them is to have smaller class sizes. Smaller classes required hiring more teachers. Guess what the biggest cost by far in a school system's budget is....teachers salaries, so if you want to do better with educating you need more money.
