I guess I'll use my Motorola brick as a door stop now.

Makes me want to run down to the nearest Mercedes showroom and check out the new w140's...

Older has its advantages...

It was still hooked up in a 2000 E430 Sport that I purchased. I started the car up and heard the familiar buzz/bong of a cell phone in the center console.

Not if you keep it in a rubber condom with raised edges to protect the screen -- unless it falls on something sharp it's unlikely to shatter.

And this is why I have a plastic BB with no moving parts and a nice thick plastic sheet over the screen. I can't count the times I've knocked it off my hood onto concrete

My old phone (One that Hattie is familiar with ;)) survived literally hundreds of drops for probably 5 or 6 years on all kinds of surfaces.

Only a few months ago did it finally meet it's demise when the screen snapped in half from the base. Amazingly the base could still make calls :D

When I was basically forced at that point to buy a new one my request to the salesmen was simple. "I need a case that can survive being bumped around every day and something that can take an impact with the ground." So far it's proven to be a wise thing to do.

My Iphone has been amazingly durable.

I'm hard on phones and have burned threw 3 Outerboxes in the past year and about one screen protector a month. But the phone itself looks like new.
