Photobucket...

Has lost my business. :(

The new layout they are forcing on you doesn't work that well, and is slow....

Anyone have any other suggestion for picture hosting?

Flickr or Picasa, both of which allow you to keep license to your photos. Or get a vanity domain and host your own Wordpress blog.

Met a guy at a party a few weeks ago who is pretty high up in Photobucket. Had an interesting conversation. They have to work hard at excluding porn. So they have automatic detectors which look for porn. But ultimately the decision is made by a human being as to whether an image is pornographic or not. So they have a whole team of people whose sole job is to look at images all day long to determine if they are pornographic or not.

As long as it's not prohibited porn (violence or underage), why would they give a flying rip? American prudery?

They are looking for prohibited porn.

After a couple of days of the new format it will ask you if you want to return to the old format. I hated the new format so I am back to the "older" version. Which still isn't quite as simple and intuitive as it was like 5 years ago.

imgur is always a good choice.

sadly they do not have video storage though. thats the only reason i have anything on photobucket, everything else is via imgur.

TylerH860 03-06-2013 06:40 PM

That's what I did, and switched it back, but it looks like they will force it upon me March 18th. Then I'll start looking for a new photo hosting site.

TheDon 03-06-2013 07:07 PM

it sucks. I have a bazillion photos on the site because I liked how I could organize them. Looks like I will be downloading all of my photos to a portable hard drive.

I might look elsewhere for photo hosting or just buy a raspberry pi and host my own photos

I have a pro account on my Flickr ($25 a year). With all those cars you're buying, what's another $25? :D

Aquaticedge 03-07-2013 11:26 AM

... I dont have an issue with the new photobucket... it does take some getting used to yes, but to me it's nothing to quit the site over..

HATE

Switched over from old to new...

Now I can't access my account, and password reset is not working.

The action that you were trying to perform has failed.

It does not accept that the account user name is valid.

IMO this host is wrecking any good will they had...

I am looking for an alternative host.

.

Ugg

Freaking great.

Finally get the password reset to work, and the website is down...

I am trying to post large pictures for a DIY.

Well

It is migrated to the new format...

IMO it is slower and more difficult to use.

FOCUSED on social media junk.

Anyone else having issues with it?

.

JamesDean 03-12-2013 03:48 PM

I too find it to be slower to use and generally crappy.

I switched over to a paid imgur.com account. It was only $25 a year. Seemed like a good deal to me. I like their site and overall organization, seems clean to me.
