MS Office 2013 = TRASH

Don't buy it, most people will hate this worthless PUSH trash from the Devolving MS.

It MUST download from MS = NO DVD, better have a super fast connection, lots of memory and a huge hard drive.

In other words, the bulk of PCs that run Windows 7 and higher. ;)

I use "open office" which can read microsoft documents from other people, and costs nothing. been pretty pleased about it. Works just as well for me as microsoft works did originally

Libre Office is another free office suite. I stopped installing new MS Office apps here at work. I now install Office 2003 cause everyone liked that version of word, and Libre Office because its up-to-date and can open anything.

LibreOffice 4 is here!

Wrong. The pricks at microturd make it hard, but you can download a DVD image and do a full install immediately. Streaming install is NOT mandatory.

What version of Windoze is on your computers?

SirNik84 03-12-2013 05:47 PM

LOL... XP. we have some odd software requirements, and XP runs everything so we've stuck to it. I personally think the boss is more afraid something don't work on an new OS, more then the technicalities of the software actually working.

I have been using Apache OpenOffice - The Free and Open Productivity Suite for years on my personal computers.

Thanks, I will try this http://www.libreoffice.org/ .

Would it be possible for you to share the DIY directions? :)
I am sure some members would like to know how. :)

At least for Pro, you can get the full installer here, and it will work with a purchased license key as well as an evaluation key:
Download Office Professional Plus 2013

Full install download, no click-to-run canine excrement.

Office 2013 is great.

I detect people using ancient junky computers. :D

DVD? Whats that? Oh yeah.....DefunctVideoDisc

Saying "lots of memory and huge hard drive" these days means your PC is reeealy old. Office 2013 will run just fine on any PC from the past 4-5 years with at least Win7 on it.

spdrun 03-12-2013 11:40 PM

Wrong-o: Office 2013 is specifically not compatible with Vista. Secondly, forcing (or encouraging) people to download the c**tf**king thing piecemeal rather than offering either media OR an EASILY ACCESSIBLE full download is an absolutely horrible idea. Especially for mobile devices where Internet access isn't always great.

Click-to-run is a giant step back -- basically the equivalent of "insert disk 4 to install this feature" in Office 95, except that the disk is on the Internet. I'd rather have a full install that takes 15 minutes to do, but is a known entity, as opposed to a quick install that may need Internet access the next day, after it's supposedly fully installed.

Fortunately, I use OpenOffice or similar on all of my computers. Thunderbird or Mail.app for e-mail. Generally Firefox or Chromium for browsing. The only MS products I regularly use at home are Windows itself, MS Remote Desktop for Mac, Visual Studio (unfortunately), and Access 2007, which I need to support certain databases.
