MS Outlook 6 error 0x800ccc0f

MS Outlook 6 error 0x800ccc0f

Incoming e-mail is working OK.

Outgoing e-mail gives me error 0x800ccc0f

I have scanned for malware and virus = negative.

The only thing I can think of is the MS update last night screwed up something.

Trying to avoid a system restore.

Just to make my day complete: Our local cell services are reduced to text only since 3:00 PM. So I can't receive, make calls or get messages.

Suggestions welcome.

Error messages when you send and receive in Outlook and Outlook Express

Chances are your email sender went from POP3 to SMTP or vice versa, or changed their sending server name. It could be as simple as re-validating your login information with the sending server. Most of the time it is username/password errors and the outgoing server is refusing the request to send the data.

still failing

Installed Thunderbird

Sending of message failed.
The message could not be sent because the connection to SMTP server pelicanserver-7.pelicanparts.com was lost in the middle of the transaction. Try again or contact your network administrator.

Try connecting to the SMTP server on port 587 or 465 (if using secure SMTP). Some ISP's block outgoing connections on the regular port -- 25 -- in order to minimize spam from hacked computers.

It is fixed.

Hundreds of searches, finally found a weird Registry error that can rarely happen with my software configuration when "Windows update" installs patches.

It was cumulative errors; Related to legacy 16 and 32 bit software required for accessing vehicle data.
I had forgotten some of the old programs tied into the e-mail client for their (long dead) connection.
Some of my vehicle data programs have build dates in the mid 1980's.

* Hours editing the registry.
Tested, not working.
* Reboot.
Tested, not working.
* Then tried your suggestion for the xx time.
** Tested, working, seems to have all normal functions restored.

The bonus: Outlook Express is now notably faster to start and close.

Thanks.
