I'm as serious as a heart attack.
A few days ago one of my lunch buddies had a heart attack. Luckily four stints later he is feeling pretty good and is heading to Florida today.
That makes my third close friend who has had heart attacks and stints installed... in the last year and a half.....and two of them are younger than I.

Time to cut back on the cheeseburgers and stoagies!
Does anyone in your family have a history of heart problems?

Never have cheeseburgers (almost never) and gave up Stogies about 30 years ago.
My dad had quadruple bypass at age 73....and he virtually never exercised until after the surgery and although 2" shorter than I usually outweighed me at the same ages. Mom's ticker is good but she has high blood pressure and takes meds for that, but she is 88.

Stents and blood thinning drugs might be worse than death.
I swam laps for thirty minutes this morning. A pool wouldn't be a bad place to die. |

If you’re concerned see a cardiologist. They can give you a stress echo, stress thallium, or angiogram as tests of your heart. All are good ways to study the heart. The angiogram is the most precise test.

Many of our issues in the USA can be traced back to diet and lack of excercise. We're all guilty.
And "activity" doesn't count as excercise |

All of the above is true
Cardiac issues have little to nothing to do with age unless they are congenital.
Condition is everything. |

This is true, but since everyone in my family's preceding generation died betwwen 100 and 91, I've taken a more serious look at everything I do.
It seems that as you get older, more recovery time is important. SO... evfry day 8 hours sleep, lots of water, a good mix of fresh vs packaged foods and I do feel better. need to drop more pounds because I have a sedentary job in a chair in front of the screen and working physically 8 hours on Sat and Sun only is NOT the answer Another thing I've seriously looked at is the Vita Mix machine/blender. It makes soups and meals quickly from fresh food. If I only had to use that to get all my veggies as a part of my lunch and dinner, it would probably do the trick. I'm investigating it seriously. I did a low fat foods investigation last year and found a lot of them, changing my diet, so I slowly lose weight unless I go off on a binge, lol. It can be easier than you think. My problem is: time. Now I get up, shower, go to the ex-wife's estate house where the dog is, take care of the dog while my son is in Cali, or at school. Then to work, back to the dog, then it's 7:30, who wants to make dinner? So I grab a salad or prepared food, and set up for tomorrow, then go to bed. RRRIINNGG! Alarm and do it again! Losing one day a week at work starting in April may have some strategic advantages.

echo
I will just add an echo ... echo....echo....
What we eat --- diet. What we do --- exercise. Who we are --- family history; heritage, etc. In my family history, most of my ancestors were farmer. You know hard working people who grew their own food. A few ancestors didn't live on the farm. If they didn't die in an accident, then 90 was easy. I've had several lived to be 100+. My maternal grandmother died at 95 and up until 2 weeks before she passed was alert with all her senses and capacities. She fell and broke her hip at 90 and thru the miracle of concrete; recovered and lived by herself for 5 more years. My dad is 84 and had his first major surgery last year --- heart valve replaced. My mom is still alive, but has a constant battle with diet for years. 100 is my target to LIVE --- not just exist.

With my family history of health issues, and now mine, I just take it one day at a time. Luckily, I have a good team of doctors, and good life insurance. If i make it to see 65, it will be a miracle. With the rare exception of my uncle, who's a medical mess, every male person in my family has died right around 62-64. Females seem to last into their 90's...not the males.
Like I said...I'm lucky to have bought the high dollar life insurance policies I have when I was younger and in good health. When the Good Lord calls me home, those I leave behind will be worth a pretty penny...better than most. I am unable to exercise due to health issues...ones that weren't there 4 years ago. I eat a healthy diet filled with fresh and canned vegetables and grains, as well as mostly chicken and fish, with the rare occasion of pork and red meat about 5 meals a month. I know the cards are stacked against me...so I'll continue to show my kids what they need to know to become productive members of society, how to survive if society crumbles as we know it, and to be God fearing, good people. Not to be a downer...but a spade is a spade, and I learned that years ago.

We have some long livers in the family too so I have always said I am pacing myself and planning to live to be 100, by my habits. Healthy diet, excercise and be born to the right people.

RE: Health.......
Lifestyle, and all it included to date, and includes going forward. That's your answer.
