Does a parent(s) become an embarrassment to their kids?

It's taken some effort on my part, but my kids find me embarrassing by their 7th or 8th birthday.

Eh, my parents were always pretty cool.

Their stance growing up was always hands off/have fun and "if you get arrested, call us.... unless it is for a DUI"

I've always thought embarrassing my kids was fun. I try to always out-do myself. It keeps them on their toes.

I was never embarrassed by my dad. My dad is a smart, nice guy, who had a lot of respect around town. Growing up I was raised by my dad after my folks split. I hated my dad, feared my dad, fought with my dad, but was never embarrassed by him. At some point around 20 or so something clicked in my head and I realized the reason my dad and I had always knocked heads is because I'm pretty much a copy of him. We're both slightly hard headed. Once I realized I was just dealing with the older version of my self my dad and I started to get along just fine. Today I count myself lucky to have been raised by my dad, best guy I know.
