My only tips on painting is prep it properly, and take your sweet time.

Good paint jobs don't take a few hours, they can take days if you are like me and want ti done right.

Prep work is 90% of it. If you prep it right, the paint will come out looking great. prep it wrong,a nd say hello to a bad paint job.

For plastic, sand it to roughen it up a bit with a fine sand paper as to not cause coarse damage to the surface. PRime it witha good plastic primer, and let it dry.

Wetsand it with fine sand paper inbetween primer coats.

Use a tack cloth to pickup extra dust before applying paint.

Apply thin even coats of paint, don't go too thick.

Wet sand with fine sand paper inbetween paint coats after they have fully dried.

When I repaint my grill again, this time with the right color paint, I will take about a week just in prep work, then a few days to paint. all in all, I figure I'll take about 2 weeks, but I plan on doing this with an extra grill shell so I don't have to drive without one on my car again...

I preped for a good 2 hours on this little job and will put a second coat on in 3 days when its dry. I learned from my air box fiasco.

dant he key is in the prep work. if you prep it right, the paint will come out right. Slow and steady, even coats and light. Want ti darker add more coats.

I'd rather do 20 light coats than 2 thick coats..

We prepped, primed and painted all the chrome on my 97 in one day and had it back on the car the third day. Used the second day to scuff the nibs and buff. Looks great. And it Will hold up.

I could do it ina few days too, but I like to be over thourough on it.

Liek that one extra coat of primer, that one extra wet sand, that one extra coat, that extra sanding and clear coating.

I know what happens when I rush it, so I try to go extra slow.

I can't wait to pick up a used grill shell to start on, then I can take damn near forever to do it!! hehe
