THX for the info/source. I've been threatening to get a set-up like this for my home/property. Invaluable in the right circumstances to see what has happened to ID the miscreants.

I have two game cameras in my kid and lamb pastures, mostly to record silly baby antics. As far as security is concerned, my grouchy dogs do a fine job. They have the run of the place at night and take their jobs seriously. ID-ing any perp that tried anything here would require DNA analysis of little tiny bits after the pooches got done.

When a local PD Officer on-duty was observed ON TAPE breaking and entering a residence here in broad daylight, WHILE he was recorded ON TAPE reaching for and disabling a cam by another cam the homeowner had in operation - yeah, I'm nervous about anyone at the outside of my four-walls. The PD Officer was immediately put on administrative leave - and, yes, I knew the Officer as our neighborhood Officer on call. Scary stuff!

My advice to the OP and ALL: get as many cams as you can to find perps like our Officer "XYZ."

I will have 7 of the 8 in the front covering every direction and over lapping each other. The remaing camera will watch my tool boxes on the back patio. The dvr is expandable to 16 channel and there are even better cameras availible as an add on.
Once all set up ill be able to view footage from my phone and what ever computers I set up.

Redundancy is key.......if at least one monitor is rolling of a perp disabling/trashing another monitor - THAT is what you want as in our burb's Officer Felonious was caught in the act as doing trashing of. What may even be better, is a dummy monitor, with two or more out-of-reach, or that the perp doesn't see. Again, the perp will think that he's potentially home free because they've disabled the monitor in reach - while the others are rolling! Use your imagination! The ease of installation and relative cheapness of surveillance monitors nowadays makes them very cost effective I surmise.

Administrative leave? Doesn't Texas have lethal injections for that sort of thing?

from what a co worker tells me , its very good. ive got a motion light in my carport but they dont do much good when sleeping. my dogs sleep like rocks so they're about worthless in the night.
however the cameras do have night vision good for 100 ft.

in the last 5 years, ive had my truck broken into, the glove box latch stolen from my 76 ford, the battery core for the sd stolen from the carport, woke up one morning a found a half empty tall boy in my drive way, and the last theft was a customers chain saw from my back patio. they climber over the fence, opened the gate and let the dogs out.

neighbors on both sides of me have had thefts as well. in fact, last 4th of july i scared two kids off that were peeking in the windows of cars. the wife saw them looking in my truck and when i got outside they had moved to my neighbors house. thats one case where the cameras would have been perfect.

How about the Wichita, Kansas BTK killer who worked for ADT Security and used his knowledge of people's security codes to break and enter so that he could KILL them? Perhaps ADT Security should consider performing exhaustive criminal background checks on their employees. Ya' think??

Bah, the code is always "1-2-3-4" or if it doesn't go, "4-3-2-1". When I bought my house, on the wall ADT, press the 1234 and... disarmed!

What about camera for your car? v(bonus: count Mercedes number)

yea thats in part the owners fault. all codes including the tech code should be changed after the installer leaves.
