FYI Rim Cleaning

just thought I would share this info with all those who spend money on rim cleaning products. Every handy man normally keeps a hand cleaner close by. Myself I prefer the Permatex Fast Orange. Wet tire with water to rinse off loose residue, using whatever applicator you clean your rimes with, dip it into the hand cleaner and apply liberally onto the rims. allow to set for a few min and then clean with a cloth or brush which ever you use. I find that an old toothbrush is great for cleaning around the valve stem. If you have weeds growing around your vehicle, apply agent orange, but ALWAYS use a HAZMAT chemical suit, hahahaha.

I will try it, all 3 of my Mercedes Benz cars have AMG wheels, so they are worth keeping up.

Boy did my mind go in the gutter. I thought it was a thread about who's got the strongest toilet paper...

I think my gutter is worse than your gutter. I was going some where slightly different and yet similar.

On a different note.... I hate spam.

I wouldn't use hand cleaner as a wheel cleaner since it usually has pumice in it which will scratch the finish. Just stick with a normal all purpose cleaner.

I prefer acetone, if you soak it long enough it will dismount the tire for you too

Is your tongue one of the rim cleaning products too?

I found that the blue washer fluid does a pretty decent job. The methanol breaks up the road grime and brake dust better than I would have thought. I wouldn't soak a wheel in it but for a wipe down it works pretty well.
