People have no choice as to whether or not they are attractive. Good thing too, because I was born ugly enough to gag a maggot on a gut wagon. People can, however, make the choice to push themselves away from the dinner table every once in awhile and take a walk around the block.

It's that old "personal responsibility" thing that so many liberals have so much trouble with.

Let's not forget that some people are overweight due to a specified medical condition they have NO control over. Making fun of those individuals borders on total insensitivity and perhaps cruelty.

I hear about these poor unfortunates, but I have never met one. I believe the number is less than 5% of all obese people have a legitimate medical condition which contributes to their obesity.

Certainly it is harder for some to maintain a healthy weight, but how many obese due to medical condition people have you ever met that actually do eat correctly and exercise?? Having reduced metabolic rate or dietary thermogenesis should not mean that you get a free pass for being obese, just means that you have to work harder at staying fit and healthy.

Just because some people can eat whatever they want, not exercise and not gain weight, does not imply that those that cannot have a medical problem.
