Lincoln Town Car

I purchased my first one today at the dealer auction. 1993 with 92,000 miles. I had no idea how fan-frickin-tastic these cars are. I never liked the older, boxy boat feeling of the previous generation and older lincolns. This one is sort of a mix between that and a normal modern car ride.

Slightly underpowered, but the seats and the ride make up for it. A very pleasant surprise.

Best $2000 and under car I've bought yet.

There's a lovely one parked near a shopping center here, which I saw today, in great shape, that is for sale, the only obvious problem is clear coat fading on one fender the trunk and rear bumper, otherwise looks new.

No idea of its mileage or model year, but probably a 1990 (with the 302) or a 91-96 (with the 4.6 engine)

The disabled person "DP" number plates on it suggested light use and little if any abuse.

Price is $995.00

Didn't have my camera with me though.

I like the Panther platform, having owned several Crown Vic's and Mercury Grand Marquis.

Bombproof, utterly reliable and dirt cheap, very safe, lowest dollar per mile total cost you can get for a car this large, this spacious, this quiet, and this roomy;

Corners like a brick rolling sideways, but who cares.

If you want a sport sedan there are other choices.

Underpowered? Yes, but it's mission is long distance cruising on U.S. interstates.

Congrats on your new-to-you Town Car..

I had an '86 for five years from '01 to '06. In that time I put 60,000 miles on it with the lowest cost per mile I've ever gotten from a car. Good tires aired up to 36 psi, CVPI front and KYB rear shocks, along with some new sway bar bushings fixed up the handling to approximately W123 level. I deleted the muffler and resonator freeing up a couple horsepower and making the 302 sound very nice. Were it not for the present price of gas I wouldn't mind having another.

93k for under 2k comfortable lincoln? Nice buy!

I had an 84 mk7 diesel for a bit, IMO, nothing can beat the comfort of a plush lincoln seat on air ride suspension.

Couple years ago walking on the street someone drove by me in that era towncar with what definitely sounded like an IDI 7.3 in it. Wasn't able to stop him and get a look under the hood, but that would be my ultimate highway cruiser for the diesel head, maybe ill try that conversion one of these days

Raylan Givens drives one. That's plenty good enough for me. I've been watching for one for a long time.

The only problem I see with that car is the target market doesn't know the internet exists, and hence will never find you.

I'm looking to get my hands on another Lincoln for the wife. I had MK VII for a few years, and loved it. Prior to that, I owned a 1986 TownCar that I loved.
