Angry SL560 STARTS THEN STALLS

after being stored for six months, car started easy then would stall right away. will run at a high rpm but dies when returned to idle.also the stopped working at this time. if it was the fuel pump would it still run at a high rpm. any advice would be appreciated. thanks barry..car is 1987 with 101000 miles

Before you said it would run at high rpm I was thinking fuel pump relay.

I'm willing to bet that the economy gauge is pegged to one side or the other as well, right?

On the back side of the throttle body, down by the firewall, is a rubber elbow that a vacuum line connects to. You can't see it...but you can feel it. The rubber elbow can be had at Autozone for about $3.

Chances are, this is the problem...your symptoms mirror what mine was doing in 2008. My father in law spent too much money trying to track the problem down, and a $3 part was all that was wrong with it...which seems to be common on these cars.
