Free-standing A/C unit

It's supposed to blow moisture out the window duct in A/C mode, but will accumulate water and eventually trip the safety switch in Dehumidify mode. Would there be any harm in attaching a Tygon hose to the drain nipple and running it outside (the apt in question has floor-to-ceiling windows, so I can easily do so)? I don't want a numpty tenant to run it in Dehumidify and then call me at 12 am saying her A/C is not working.

As long as there is a drain port, this should work quite well.
