Benz World ,any fans?
Signed up ,or tried to ,then got sent a virus .If someone has been a member over their they might want to check up on this detail .It happened again yesterday and I wont venture on the site since its obvious that it has a link to my computer THAT somehow activates the V.
|
what kind of virus, what is the obvious link? Although I'm not a huge fan of the site, I've never had any trouble that you describe.
|
I haven't noticed any problems but the only forums I visit there are the "vintage" and W126 forums.
Probably any virus figures it's too modern to mess with me.:D |
For me the pages load so slowly that the website is virtually worthless, not a fan.
|
Yeah, not a fan...
Won't disclose names, but about 2 years ago, a member pretty much flamed me openly on the forum. I brought the issue to the mods of the forum, and nothing was done, as he was a favored member by those mods. They told me to change/edit my posts, which I refused to do until the member was issued a warning or infraction for his posts. No infraction or warning was ever issued to the member that flamed me, but I was forced to take down/edit my posts! I have a screenshot of the posts saved somewhere - and will post it if I find it. |
Use an ad blocker. The site becomes quite a bit more tolerable speed wise once you do. That is what you might be getting chasinthesun, it might just be an ad which your AV has labeled as a virus.

Benzworld takes way too long to load and I find the layout less attractive than PeachParts. I also appreciate the fact that we don't have a "cabaret" section here at PeachParts, and I think that the forums there are too specifically divided out -- at that point, all the people knowledgeable about, say, diesels, don't congergate in the same place anymore -- a huge loss, in my mind.

Well the second time it happened I was googling links to answer a question about my 190d ,found a writeup but wasnt paying attention to the site address ,I then read the threads 1st pg then started to go to page 2 ,after clicking it freezes ,I then look up to see that I was on BW ,then the whole mess started over.I hope they get this fixed and report back to verify their was a problem ,open air is always the best way.
The options on signing up on their site is grouped in 3 columns ,free ,$19.95 for a yr. ,and $39.95 for life. Not shadowing their intentions but in truley providing good service and info without mishap is the general rule in governing any site. |
I have started to use them for R107 info. I like that they divide up by model - I only NEED R107 info, so I do not want to be distracted by things for R129, R170, R230 and etc... the R107 group there seems to be more active than it is over here. However I like things better here. I guess that is because I like the camaraderie of all us current (and former) Dieselheads.
|
Ben's world - party time - excellent...
...er yeah use an ad blocker (And I only go on the W123 bit there. I actually prefer the diesel group set up here 'cos you learn more about just the type you own) |
Benzworld is a great forum! Lots of DIY articles and some pretty useful members(some are useless) I don't have too many issues over there.
|
I went over there when we he had the great migration. I think that was back in 2005. A month was enough for me, came back here.

iirc, they shut down the OD around 2005. Someone else may have a more accurate date...
A bunch of people moved over to Menzworld. The OD re-opened, some remained and others like me came back here. I've been around here since 2001 -- have seen a lot of people come and go, die, marry, come out, have kids -- you name it. Made some good friends too and met a good deal of folks at gtg's etc. EDIT: Saw CLK Man get banned for like 2 years. That was funnah'! |
They LOVE me over at BW...:rolleyes::rolleyes:
