Enjoyable day...more firearm talk

Girl child #2's boyfriend wanted to bring his shotgun over for a good cleaning today, so I told him to go ahead and bring it over. His mom asked if I would clean and oil her firearms as well...figuring she had one pistol and perhaps a shotgun or two, I agreed. Well, let's just say that my basement shop is loaded with about 15 firearms.

So far today, I cleaned a Ruger Blackhawk in .357 Magnum complete with a western gun belt, a Winchester 1200, a Remington 870, Colt Police Positive Special .38 and a Benelli SuperNova Realtree 12ga.

I have a 1922 Lefever SXS in 12ga apart on my bench, parts soaking in cleaner, waiting to be completed and reassembled. This belonged to her father who passed away a few years ago and left her all of his firearms. The man was an avid hunter, and had great taste in shotguns.

Sadly, many of these guns have a light coating of rust on them. A touch of Simichrome and some elbow grease is doing wonders to them. They have been stored without preparation such as a good coating of oil.

Well part of my day and last night was occupied by firearms and ammo.

The wind was supposed to be right for calling coyotes this morning, so last night I reloaded some .308 rounds for my Ruger M77 MKII II stainless rifle. It is a load that I worked up with 110 grain hollow points.

I got set up for the call this morning as the Sun was starting to peak up. Problem was that instead of a strong Northwest wind, it was calm at Sunup, so the one that showed up did not come from downwind as I expected and there was a house behind him about 3/4 mile away so I couldn't shoot. Was a great way to start the day though, out on the place enjoying the sights and sounds of nature.

JP, do you have an ultrasonic cleaner for cleaning rifle and pistol brass? If you do, it works great for cleaning small gun parts.

I have one, but I didn't think of using it for this. Thanks for the idea.
