Question What would you do re: New SL

The local dealer called me last week re: the 2002 SL I looked at a short while ago. The price quoted was 75,200 w/tax - out the door. I currently own a 97 SL 320 with 12,000 miles in showroom condition. I eventually would like to get into a R 230, but not for a while. So the delimma is.......should I hold onto my current car and trade it in on a R 230 when ready, or trade it now on a 2002 SL 500......hold that car for 5 years.....and then trade to a R 230? I tried to get the salesman commit to the depreciation value...but did not get a clear answer. Any comments would be appreciated.

I say if you want more power, go for it.

otherwise, wait ont he new R230 SL.

My dad has his on order, but he drove one and seems to like the 600's engine better. Of course. hehe But he still can't wait to get the car in. IT has every option package they have. So basically it'll be an SL55 without the engine. But the kicker, is the glass roof, I can't wait to see that!!

I think it depends on whether you want to make car payments for the next ten years! Simple way to do it is to ask him about leasing the '02 R129. That way he'll have to provide you with the depreciation. Chances are he really needs to move the '02 because it's kinda-sorta depreciated already.

Dale,
I will say to keep your current SL. There are not that much difference in looks as far as the '97 vs '02. If engine size is what you are after, then getting the SL 500 makes sense. Otherwise, I will wait for a few years and get the R230. You are going to lost money no matter what, but why lost twice.

Those dorks really messed up with the way they chopped the grill in 2 pieces for the hood to go up.

They should have made it all one piece.

Cheap pr1cks!!!

Who is in charge of the new models?
