I would have just hopped the curb and ridden on the sidewalk until the idiot went about his own business. Other wise his nice van would have gotten a bike chain to the tail lamps and glass.

Some people..

Watch the video. The guy on the bike was harassing the vehicle. He, the bike rider, has no right to touch the van. That’s where the problem started.

Try again Bullwinkle. I ride a bicycle about 3x per week.

The van brake checked him aka attempted homicide. Lucky for the Hasid cult member, he only touched it, not did what was suggested in Post 16.

Looked to me that the van cut off the bike and forced the bike into the van on several occasions.

I agree that the van passed the bike and then put on the breaks.

I have little doubt that the van driver was antagonistic in his goals. But the bike rider had no right to touch the van.

He may have had to touch the van to maintain balance. Lucky for the idiot driver, that's ALL he did.

He may have, but that does not explain his slapping the van repeatedly. Clearly you are reduced to rationalizing about the incident.

As anyone can see, they were both imbeciles. Why are you joining them?

I did. He has every right to tap the mini van, the guy cut him of on purpose and put his life in jeopardy. He decided to make his mini van a weapon, at that point all bets are off. Call me an imbecile but if it would have happened to me he had a bike chain through his back window by the second cut of.

Not sure why the biker stuck around. He seemed to have ample opportunity to get away but seemed to choose not to. I try and avoid conflict where ever possible. I do not see where the biker is guilty of anything. Given the proximity of the van to the bike, I would have had to lay hands on the van as well if only to try and keep my distance from it.

I also do not see where the fact that the man was either Orthodox or Hasidim has anything to do with the video. Religion was not mentioned nor did it seem to play any part in the confrontation. Had the man in the van been a Christian would that have made all Christians bad? How about a black man? Muslim? Sikh?

There's been a history of harassment of outsiders (especially cyc lists) by certain cult members in that part of Brooklyn.

It looked pretty tame to me,a bunch of fat guys with tempers against a young athletic cyclist ,would of been alot of gasping for air and falling over for the dark coats if words came to blows.

First off, I'm not an expert in NY traffic laws at all, but in WI., bicyclists have the same rights on the road as motorized vehicles. ALSO, THEY MUST FOLLOW THE SAME.

If a motor vehicle approaches a bicyclist from behind, the motor vehicle is to grant the bicycle the same space it would a normal vehicle when passing.

CLEARLY, the jerk (religion-affiliation be damned) in the van was in the wrong...you don't "sqeeze play" anything with the vehicle. The least he should be charged with is criminal mischief...intent to cause bodily harm with a vehicle. I'm not sure, but it could be either a Class 1 Misdemeanor or some high-level Felony if the incident resulted in injury/death. DAs use all sorts of levels for vehicular mayhem and idiocy.

After the Jerk In the Vehicle (JIVE) passed/pitched-off the Bicyclist (BYT), the BYT should have called the police and had the JIVE arrested. 3 times that the JIVE cuts off the BYT?!?!?!?!?

The JIVE is lucky the BYT didn't have a CCP/CCW and was packing. I quit watching the video after the JIVE got out of the van and started yapping to the BYT about him not being allowed on the roadway.

Jewish, Black, Cracker, Asian, Mulatto, Mexican, Iowan or whatever...the rules of the road should be known by everyone (bicyclists and pedestrians too) and cops should be handing out tickets like Chicklets on Halloween for the idiots that don't behave.

'Til then, expect more YouTube and less civility.

Film at 11...
