Anyone ever seen one of these?

The wife and I was traveling to Berea, ky today and saw one of these. it looked like a tractor driving backwards. And when it turned left, it looked like a forklift I guess you learn something new every day.

It's a John Deere, so I thought it was a regular tractor.

I have a feeling that they can take the forks off and attach a bucket. John Deere was good at making multi-purpose equipment like that.

Part of the time while I was growing up my dad did lots of fork truck work. I saw LOTS of different types of rough terrain fork trucks. Some of them were factory built for the purpose and others were fabricated from a salvaged mast mated to a farm or construction tractor.

As a previous poster mentioned, it very well could be a mast that was sold for use on that particular tractor.

In the area it was located, I imagine that it's primary use it to load rounds of hay on wagons after baling.

The original forklifts were adapted tractors. Clark started it in 1917.
