Thanks, almost done raising him anyhow. Hard to let go of the last one. He cracked me up when he cranked in a little baby smallmouth that had hit his lure. Hit me with a perfect imitation of Napoleon Dynamite; "I caught you a delicious bass."

Saturday --- drove to Zachary, LA

I left at 10:30am on Saturday and drove 6 hours in the 87 Champagne to Zachary, LA to take my Dad and his wife out to dinner. We went to The Chimes near LSU; then drove around the grounds of LSU; stopped and took some pics of Mike (the tiger); then drove to their house for a wonderful home-made chocolate dessert.

Dad's house is out in the country a bit and he doesn't have cable/internet service. I had to work at 8am, so I left their house about 9pm and started driving home; spent the night in Byram, MS. After work, checked out and drove home.

OH --- both my daughters gave me cards; the oldest bought a card and added her decorating embellishments; the youngest made 2 home made cards for me.

It was a very good Father's Day weekend.

Sounds like everyone had great days.

We went to the range, sent about 500 .22lr rounds down the line, then was treated to pizza for dinner. My 17 year old and 14 year old kids had each picked up some deep and loving cards, then added their own words inside. I'll add them to the box of other cards and such that they've given me over the years...I cherish each and every one of them.

I scrambled and put together the gear and a soft cooler of State Pen Porter and when he got home we rode the horses down to the creek and hiked upstream to that little hole. We didn't catch a single fish and neither one of us cared.
Nice day.
There's a difference between "fishing" and "catching". "Fishing" is for the pure enjoyment of company. "Catching" is fun also but nothing beats relaxing and swapping stories while you're waiting for a fish dumb enough to bite a dead worm.

Yep, I taught my kids that fishing is it's own reward and catching is just icing on the already complete cake. One of the girls likes to fish, the other hasn't the patience.
They both called yesterday BTW. One is working in Mexico and the other is still at U of A in Tucson.

My dad is gone now about 8 years. Great guy. I raced yesterday but spoke with all my kids on the phone and had lunch on my lovely #2 daughter today with her. I understand there will also be a little hoo ha next Saturday in my honor.

Great day!
