More NSA spying...
http://www.nytimes.com/2013/06/06/us/us-secretly-collecting-logs-of-business-calls.html
Frankly, the PATRIOT Act is treason in my book (an attack on the US system from within, to the benefit of our enemies). Hope we see the day that the people who had the biggest hand in creating it end up in general population making new "friends" for their efforts. Last edited by spdrun; 06-06-2013 at 12:56 AM. |

My dad, an old time party line guy supported it. He and I argued constantly about it when it was coming up for a vote. Dad took the stance that it was good for the security of the nation...I told him that the next POTUS and other elected government bigwigs could easily manipulate it into the worst thing this country has ever seen.
He was of the mindset that you trusted your nation's leaders to do right...I was of the mindset that I don't trust anyone in the Federal government to do things right. This was the single worst piece of legislation ever created...

To this day, I am furious at Bush and congress for passing this law. Most people would consider me to be a conservative and I generally liked Bush. I was hopping mad when this was proposed and passed. Given the choice of repealing it or Obamacare (which I want repealed), I would live with O'care and repeal the Patriot act.

demolish the Patriot Act. We are being conquered from the inside. Facism is beginning to run rampant.

The PA isn't going away. After 9/11 WE were told to be very afraid, and WE believed it. WE put this power in their hands. WE own it. The vast conspiracy is US.

Vast conspiracy (if you can call it that) is that the average Dumberican is too rock-dumb and uneducated to know better.

Here's one I'll go out on a limb and say the majority of us 'round these here parts can agree on - right, left, center, or agile enough to hop around the pigeon holes:
Bush and the administration he led were wrong to create & pass the Patriot Act. Obama and the administration he leads are wrong to exercise the damn thing.

Even St. Ron caved to the religious right on abortion. They all have their sell-out thresholds.

I'm generally pro-choice, at least for 1st trimester, but I'd rather have an anti-abortionist than a wholesale enabler of totalitarianism.
