Well, apparently he obstructed an officer, whatever that means.

We have clothing rules here in Lafayette. I don't understand though, why they did not just send him home. Calling the police seems odd.

No doubt this will be sorted out in court.

Anyone obstructing a pig in blue should be given a medal not jail time.

BTW - "obstructing an officer" just means not bowing down to their authoriteh and following their orders exactly, doesn't imply any physical violence. Personally, I hope this does go to court, so the prison warden/principal, prostitutor, and f**king pigs can be laughed out of court by the judge and jury.

Dear God, Tom, he is an 8th grader! Even IF he "obstructed" an officer, he is a freaking juveinile.....

I feel like I am living in the early days of the rise of the Nazis.....seriously.

and, interestingly enough, the totalitarian oppression is coming from the political side that espoused freedom for all.

Sometimes there is some justice.

Feds had to fork over $2M and issue a public apology for falsely detaining a lawyer as a "material witness" without the slightest bit of evidence:

Pictures of guns are scary. So is the word "rifle."

Thankfully for him, he didn't make a "gun" with his thumb and forefinger, might have been arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.

Has the ACLU weighed in yet?

I do as well.

Sadly, the prevailing opinion about all this BS is quite the opposite. The average person wants the government to "keep us safe" and they will forfeit all of the rights of "others" to get to that point.

They have no understanding of the fact that their rights are lost as well.

Sadly, this situation isn't going to improve anytime soon.

Governments intervention is by osmosis. I do not think it is avoidable. Time alone has proven governments always expand into new areas. At best the only thing that may or may not be changeable is the rate of intrusion or control implemented.

I would think there would have to be an existing known policy in place to do the shirt thing with the kid. Of course he will not be imprisoned as that is just a blown up media thing in my mind.

He will not wear the shirt to school though in my opinion. I too have no ideal of why the police got involved in this. There may be more than has been reported involved here.

I know a kid that is in Show Business. Very talented.

He appeared at a festival and blew off his usual fee since he was helping to raise money for a good cause. He did get a free T-shirt that said he was an Entertainer on the front. Their was also a list of sponsors on the back of the shirt and one of them was a well known Beer maker.

He wore the shirt to school and was told to turn it inside out since the school had rules against wearing anything that had a beer advertisement on it.

So he did. End of story.

If the kid in this other story had done the same there would be no story. He decided that the rules did not apply to him and apparently did something which caused the Police to become involved.

By the way... I thought the NRA was pushing the thought that every school should have a Policeman on the grounds during school hours? Have they changed their policy on this since it appears that the school's rules applies to those that support them?

Yes, the jack booted thugs are multiplying. It's a little harder to recognize OUR govt. jack booted thugs, since jack boots are not in style. Maybe they don't wear them because it would appropriately give them away. As it is, you have to wait for them to violate your constitutional rights before you can recognize them.

We will see more and more of them at an ever increasing rate.

If the officer ordered him to remove or turn the shirt inside out, and the student declined to do so, is the student guilty of obstructing an officer if the officer's order isn't lawful?

That's what our high school used to do..turn em inside out or go home and change.

Don't think cops ever got involved.

There was also a bit in the original source about not shutting up when told to do so.. wasn't really clear what that was all about...

I am in agreement that it seems we are living in a period of time real similar to when Hitler came into power in Germany. Just watch what happens when the hyperinflation starts.
