Elbert Guillory (R) LA

Welcome to the Red Team sir! This man has some guts to come out with a video like this one.

Look out Mr. Guillory, the LWNJ media and the IRS are gonna come after you.

Air&Road 06-18-2013 03:36 PM

Chris is right, but it was EXTREMELY refreshing to see an intellectually honest politician of ANY party give such a moving speech.

Thanks very much for posting this Gator!

Wait...that would mean that the black man in the white house is nothing more than a slave to his party, right?

I have a feeling that there will be more jumping ship in the future...

So - selectively pulling data points from history and applying labels to them makes everything right. Got it.

ramonajim 06-18-2013 05:48 PM

Because, of course, all that pesky "GAWDDAMN GOVERNMENT IS READING MY EMAIL!!!!!!!!!!!" started under a democrat.

Oops - ****e. Ok, it might have started under a republican. Can't let those pesky FACTS get in the way!!!!!

elchivito 06-18-2013 06:02 PM

Guillory for President. Who's with me?

ruchase 06-18-2013 06:10 PM

A nicely done speech - actually got me teary eyed for a moment, until I remembered it wasn't the union that wanted to secede and maintain slavery.

This guy's been bought - just a question of what's in it for him. We'll soon find out his price (I'm betting republican presidential candidate 2016).

I guess this never happened then??

In 2006, Obama blasted NSA spying:

Quote:

In 2006, then-Sen. Barack Obama criticized the nomination of U.S. Air Force Gen. Michael Hayden as director of the Central Intelligence Agency, citing the controversial National Security Agency program for wiretapping Americans and collecting their phone records.

"I have no doubt that General Hayden will be confirmed. But I am going to reluctantly vote against him to send a signal to this administration that even in these circumstances, even in these trying times, President Bush is not above the law. No President is above the law. I am voting against Mr. Hayden in the hope that he will be more humble before the great weight of responsibility that he has not only to protect our lives but to protect our democracy.
Americans fought a Revolution in part over the right to be free from unreasonable searches–to ensure that our Government could not come knocking in the middle of the night for no reason. We need to find a way forward to make sure we can stop terrorists while protecting the privacy and liberty of innocent Americans. We have to find a way to give the President the power he needs to protect us, while making sure he does not abuse that power. It is possible to do that. We have done it before. We could do it again."

He's from right up the road.

The pay-off is political power in his remaining term (LA legislature is term-limited) to target a national office when Mary Landrieu loses her senate seat in the next election. If we can dump her and Vitter maybe that will make room for a new kind of senator -- one with a whole brain.

...and a whole lot of ambition. Well at least if all else fails, he can quit political office and become a Fox News contributor.

Is this supposed to be an insult?

Been bought huh? And your proof is?

I'll bet that last week or whenever he was still a democrat that you would have defended him to the end of time. Now, his intellectual honesty has turned him into the Devil himself in liberal minds.

Attaboy! Just out of curiosity, is it difficult to see the keyboard through the eyeholes in your white hood?
