Bought a little black box
For my Duramax:
http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a63...ps897b09ba.jpg Added 100HP and 220ft-lbs! Woke the ol' beast up quite a bit - so much that it can spin the tires when I roll into it at 40mph!:cool: I really think the Duramax tuned might be as fast as my E55 was stock! :D Boosted 4WD launches are nutso. It spun all 4 of my 38x15.50 tires through an intersection earlier! Can't wait till I have my first run in with a ricer.... Should be interesting. |

You clearly are not getting enough adult supervision!;)
I vote we should send the Mistress out to discipline you! |
Hey Justin!
Well, for fun, maybe we could swap, and you take my new BMW for a few days?
http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...BMW/dsc018.jpg It's got 300 hp, and the manual version of its inline 6 does 0-60 in 5.7, twin turbos spool up to just 1200 rpm and by then the cork is already outta the bottle.... Although I went to the DINAN facility down in Morgan Hill, south of San Jose a couple of days ago, and they told me they are still trying to build a chip for the 535, three years after the F10 debuted; they already have one for the 550i to sell, but for $90k for a new 550i it wasn't worth it to me to buy one of those.. as finally my driving record is clean again - no more speeding tickets, wrecks, failures to appear, ect. They promised me 55hp and buckets more torque with the chip, when its done. BMW made them diabolically difficult to remap for my motor, I was told by DINAN.... |
Don't swap with him Jim!
You'll get it back lifted 14" and sporting 36" mud tires! |
Actually that might be fun, Tom!

Don't say I didn't warn you!;)

I wish they made a chip for the ML but not so much for added performance, but to get increased mpg on the hiway. Mine has a so-called lazy 02 sensor in the cat, and due to this the ML gets up to 25+ MPG on the hiway sometimes. It would be great if there was software that could lean out the mixture to provide consistently higher MPG or more power, as the driver wanted.

Not sure about the Edge products. I don't think it does add that much. It might say "up to" which means it can go less. Usually addition of power is done in conjunction with other supporting mods. I don't know Duramax products well but I have never trusted any of the off shelf products like that. I usually want my vehicles dyno tuned or data logged tuned. Tried a canned tune on the E300. Smoky. They strike me as a "one size fits all" thing.

When the Powerstrokes first came out, and people began chipping them, over on the Ford diesel forum guys were talking about hunting for Corvettes to race. OK, if the Powerstroke guys pick the road. Too many curves, and the 'vettes would run away.

A gent with an 05 Duramax (little diff from mine) picked up ~200ft-lbs of TQ, and about ~70ish HP with one of these tuners on the most aggressive setting. Another gent with an 08 picked up more than the advertised power gains, and has pretty similar mods to myself. Granted they were in different parts of the country, so the DA might have been a bit different, but as long as I am close to their claimed gains, I am/will be happy. I do eventually want to get custom tuning done on my truck, but that is a long ways off. I don't have the time, nor do I want to the motivation right now to get it done. Plus, I have been keeping an eye out on the newer bodystyle of my truck, and am thinking about moving/upgrading into one of those. |
aaaaannd boom goes the transfer case

The transfer case that comes as standard is a pretty stout unit. |
