My dad who was in the insurance game for over 30 years said according to the insurance companies a high percentage of one car accidents are suicide....they cannot prove it though.

Back in the olden days (after the advent of rubber-cushioning motor mounts, but before things like safety/restraining motor mounts came along) it was not unheard of that after the motor mounts had failed, one could launch the engine and transmission into the radiator, smashing it with the grille into the front bumper...simply from a panic stop. And in the event of an accident from even a moderate rate of speed, they could end up in the street pretty easily. Obviously things have improved quite a lot, but you still can't overcome the laws of physics.
I do get that, I think maybe the lack of other pieces around it makes it just look odd in the pictures. Its not the fact that it happened for me, its the cleanliness of that assembly sitting there all alone. After all, crush zones are meant to crumple rather than stretch as they would in a wraparound like that, think this might happen more and more as cars get smaller, lighter and emphasize cabin cages (like the smart) with crumple zones.

My guess is the guy was freaking out and either killed himself or may have been under some influence. Purely speculation though.

The powertrain isn't secured to the body with anything more than a few socket head cap screws. And, between the body and the engine you'll find rubber.

Therefore, in a high speed crash, over 100 mph into a pole, the massive forces involved can easily shear the mounts between the drivetrain and the body.............and the drivetrain continues onward in its original direction toward the original destination, where the body remains firmly in front of the tree.

If you want to make the argument that a bomb lifted the entire drivetrain out of the vehicle and deposited it 200 feet down the road, the force required for that would leave absolutely nothing at the point of the explosion other than a crater in the ground. For evidence of this type of bomb, reference the Oklahoma city bomb where pieces of the drivetrain were found several blocks away and virtually no part of the vehicle was left at the point of the explosion.

Still has to blow through quite a bit of bodywork to get there. I'm not trying to argue anything, I'm simply saying it looks odd sitting all by its lonesome self. The forces involved in accidents like this are always staggering

You got the radiator, condenser, and grille. Not much resistance for something that weighs about 800 lb. moving at 100 mph.

My only question is how it avoided the collision with the tree as it was coming out of there.

Maybe it glanced off the tree. I think the oddest thing is the size of the fire from the crash.

The bodywork is nothing, just a relatively thin decorative cover. How tough is a concrete construction block? A two by four can punch right through that when propelled by hurricane or tornado winds.

I've seen the drivetrain ejected like this in one or two other high force side impacts. Remember that the engine mounts are probably designed to sheer off in a crash, and as BC noted the lock carrier isn't going to provide much resistance to a heavy engine and transmission.

Also, the explosion sound can come from just an impact... doesn't have to be an actual explosion. Even the "slow" crash where my parked Jetta was hit was enough to show me that.

On the fire aspect... it takes minutes for a small fire to fully engulf the car. Look up videos on youtube... the rate at which the fire spreads is amazing. So overall I don't see anything that is a "smoking gun" in this crash, unless some outside influence caused him to lose control in the first place.

So the FBI says they weren't investigating him; he said they were interviewing his close friends and associates.

Should be pretty easy to determine if the Fibbies are fibbing; have any of his close friends/associates come forward to discuss whether the FBI was interviewing them about Mr. Hastings?

Do you think it's possible that if this witness was correct, Michael Hastings was really in the Mercedes during that towering inferno? I don't think it is.

https://www.survivalmonkey.com/threa...mbushed.38357/

She's the wife of the jewish man with the garden hose. A most important eyewitness who contradicts (the police report) that Hastings was on fire for 3-5 minutes. The relevant audio starts around 12:00.

If her account is true then Hastings was certainly not inside the burning Mercedes, as he would've looked like the completely burned man in the car below. What's interesting is how her description isn't much different from the Coroner's report. The most significant difference is that she described both arms being unburnt instead of just one.

http://i1312.photobucket.com/albums/...4.png~original
http://documents.latimes.com/coroner...hael-hastings/

This is a real and nasty image of a man burned in a car fire. http://i889.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps8fae8b59.jpg

As to the unprecedented Obama regime action of cremating Hastings body without his family’s permission either being sought or granted, the InfoWars News Service further reports:

A witness to the aftermath of the Michael Hastings accident on June 18 in Hancock Park in Los Angeles, California told Infowars Nightly News that the journalist’s body was not badly charred as reported by the Los Angeles Times.

The LAPD and the Los Angeles County Coroner weretrying their best” to hide the body from the witness, who asked to remain anonymous, when it was pulled from the vehicle approximately three hours after the fire was extinguished, between 7:20 to 7:40 AM.

After the ferocity of the fire, the witness expected to see a body charred beyond recognition. “What I saw was the full body,” she told Infowars Nightly News, “with a completely burned face, up to say the shoulders. From the shoulders down I saw the whole body, completely intact, not burned in any way.”
She identified the body as a “white guy about 25 to 30… a white young guy… I saw full, white arms.”

This contradicts the official story. “The body was badly charred and identified only as ‘John Doe 117,’ law enforcement authorities told The Times. Coroner’s officials were attempting to match dental records to help make a positive identification, according to authorities,” the LA Times reported.”
As to why the Obama regime, and now the LAPD, are continuing to cover-up Hastings assassination can be readily viewed in this map [below/see video HERE] showing the sheer impossibility of this award winning reporter who was running for his life having been killed by his vehicle hitting a tree, especially in light of the fact the debris field extends for nearly 300 meters (100 yards) clearly indicating an explosive event.
