My answer to anyone who suggests I go to Hell is, "Why? I lived through a summer in Yuma. Fire and brimstone don't scare me none".

I do not think that is accurate. The people who have some religious belief think they know how it started. Those who do not have any religious affiliation are willing to say we do not know but we are looking.

well i am not very religious, but i believe there is something bigger. however i will never be able to prove it. my cousin is very much an athiest. always science this science that. when i asked him how it started he gave me the usual well we came from this or that. to which i repeatedly asked and where did that come from until he had no answer. the same can be said about my belief. at the end of the day it comes down to what you and only you believe feels right.

Where order meets chaos, complex self replicating patterns can spontaneously generate. There is a whole field of study that focuses on this phenomenon called "complexity". Personally, I can fully comprehend how life came to be without the need for a mystifying deity.

The difference is religious people have an answer for everything, in science on the other hand a lot is still unknown and a view can change when new proof or disproof is presented and that's the beauty of it.

The worst about religious people is the total absence of curiosity and their unwillingness to look at different views. What says more about the person it self then about religion or science.

I can see why someone is religious, but I doubt a religious person can see or understand my view or take on life.

Not all people that believe in a Creator believe in a 6 - 10K year old earth. Or that macro-evolution never took place. If it's not mentioned specifically in Scripture, aren't these things open for interpretation? So you would be so quick to paint all of Christianity with such a broad brush? Things happen...Science advances..Technology improves...But if the Bible is not truly accurate, prove that it isn't. Challenge a pastor, and hold their feet to the fire. If they're serious about their position, when they don't know something they'll look into it. BE BRUTAL! At the very least, it might just help you to understand and respect the faith a little bit more.

Does not really address the question but what ever. This discussion has been had countless times here and always ends the same way.

Tell you what. Prove that Zeus (or any other god you choose) does not exist and I'll believe that your god does exist.

I guess I should qualify this statement. I do not know how you define the term proof but I rely on scientific method. So if you are going to say something along the lines of Zuse does not exist because your god says it is the only god ... then don't bother because I do not accept that standard of proof.

Ha ha! Good one!

No. I'm not doing anything. Not my problem. You need to do the work yourself. I'm not going to argue about this. I don't have the time. I suggest you step up to the plate and challenge somebody in a leadership role that seems knowledgeable of whatever you care about researching. If you're actually curious, which I doubt you are. Why don't you go ahead and attack them head on? At the very least, you might learn something.
