BBC News - Nanga Parbat attack: Taliban say new faction killed climbers

Pakistan seems to be fast headed into an isolated future. It amazes me how the U.S. remained allied with Pakistan during the so called 'war on terror', despite their own military dictatorship, state supported terrorist attacks on democratic India, and now this new this twist.
The region seems to be fast becoming the new safe haven for stone-age Islamic extremists - and who's to say U.S. taxpayer funding is not (indirectly) contributing to these terrorist organizations' funding.

no, you don't get it. the islamists were just exercising their freedom of religion, as they do in Syria & Egypt....

Perhaps it has to do with the nuke that Pakistan possesses?

Scary times we live in - it's as thought there are 2 civilizations superimposed on each other. One is progressive and forward thinking, willing to embrace new ideas/change, while the other is stuck in the bronze age and trying to live by some religious doctrine that clashes with everything around them.

Vast oversimplification. The forward, progressive civilization you refer to also happens to be uber-hungry for resources and on the look to get them wherever possible.

True - but you don't hear about the taliban attacking China or Russia, even though they're just as ambitious as any other western power.

Huh? Weren't we supplying the Taliban to fight the Russians, which is where they got the idea that they might win in a conflict with a superpower.

I thought both Countries mentioned had they own Muslims to do the attacking.

Diesel911 06-25-2013 08:38 PM

Many of the Non-Muslim Nations don't have the will to execute Felons that have convicted heinous murders let alone have the will to attack and wipe out all of the troublesome Muslim sects or Nations.
