I Find this Disturbing

Official: Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife, Cynthia, were "targeted" in killing - CBS News

I certainly hope that this is not a coming trend. With more and more wimpy people in America, where will they find people brave enough to do these jobs honestly? Maybe that's the problem. Maybe these DA's were the only ones left that couldn't be bought.

There is also the thug that killed the prison official in Colorado. Is this a coming trend?

I think it is much too early to judge.

No one knows if this is the work of a single individual with a vendetta, or something systematic, like a gang might be.

Personally, I don't know, but my guess is that this is personal, otherwise it would have become more widespread a long while ago, especially in Texas where firearms are definitely more prevalent than elsewhere.

Disturbing that someone and his wife were killed. Not any more disturbing than anyone else getting killed, though -- gov't officials (especially those feeding into or running the US prison-industrial complex) aren't somehow entitled to EXTRA mourning over anyone else who happens to lose their life.

Have to say that with excessively long prison sentences, no easy expungement of records in some states, comparatively minor offenses being elevated to felonies, cuts in prison educational programs, and the fact that we're keeping 1% of all Americans incarcerated, we're creating an angry underclass with no prospects and little to lose. Those shootings might be a sign that our unjust justice system needs reform, and the sooner the better.

Hope they catch the killers and lock them up. Also hope that people will ask more questions.

Agreed - no extra special mourning deserved.

The disturbing aspect, to me anyway - is that this might signal an attempt by one or more collections of miscreants to mimic the "techniques" widely employed by drug kings in Mexico.

Some talk, based on common involvement in some cases by the two DA types murdered, that one potential collection of said miscreants could be connected to a specific "radical skinhead organization."

Other than Aryan Brothers or whatever it's called, are "skinheads" really that organized nationally?

(Personally, "radical racist pigs" is a better description. Anyone with a knowledge of punk/mod culture would realize that the skinhead movement did NOT start with white racists -- the identity was stolen by the racist boneheads a decade or so later.)

So, what would happen if there started to be a rampage, taking out DA's, prison officials, judges and other members of the judicial system? Sounds like you'd be perfectly fine with that.

I am not in any way implying that this murder is more tragic than the murder of an ordinary citizen. I am saying that if the gangs, cartels or whoever start assasinating people in our judicial system and getting away with it, we're fooked.

As far as hoping they catch the killers and lock them up, that's not my hope. I hope the catch them and hang them on National TV. Let the punks thinking about doing such a thing, see them dangling from a rope.

So why are White Supremacists any more suspect than any other group? Seems that the skin heads would not be targeting white folks. It seems to be more of an assasination like the Mexican Cartels do than anything else.

I agree, except I have yet to see any evidence that they are tied to the skinheads or any other particular group. I am not implying that these people deserve any special mourning.

When this thing gets unpacked, I'm very curious to see if the Kaufman County Gov't. officials that were killed had given the motivated killer(s) reason(s) to do what was done in such an escallated fashion.

Mike McLelland's boisterously, over-the-top televised news conference that I witnessed after the Asst. D.A.'s murder would have seemed to fan the flames of what happened to him Saturday.

If they find the ppl responsible, and there's no assurance that they will, I'm wondering if the Gov't. officials/LE gave some ppl/element reason(s) like corruption for instance, to go after them as has been done.

There was once a Federal Judge in Tyler, Texas, who didn't fool around when it came to hard case criminals. Oddly enough this made him few friends in the criminal class and he received death threats on a regular basis.

And he took them all seriously. His home looked like a bunker. You could hit it with an RPG and perhaps do some damage, but it could take, and did on more than one occasion, anything up to a cal. 50.

He understood that there were very evil people in this world since he saw them everyday and when they said they would kill you if they got the chance they were not just making conversation.

More DA's and those involved with these folks need to take steps to protect themselves against this criminals. I doubt that any group has decided to go on a three state killing spree, but there is clearly no doubt that if they feel it serves their aims they would have no problem with doing so.
