Doesn't say too much about their current offerings ;)

Air&Road 06-26-2013 01:36 PM

TBO's right. There was another thread where it was said that GM wasn't retroing because they had fresh new ideas, now this..... Which is it?

They are cool billboards though.

The 59 slogan was really cool, except the Poodle Skirts were earlier than '59.

Resting on your laurels, wrapping yourself in soft nostalgia and the American flag is a smoke screen for reality of today and yesteryear.

Ad companies and engineers are two different sets of people who don't always talk.

This being said: I'm still for buying out anyone who lives there, putting a 25kV electric fence around Detroit, and using it as a weapons testing range. Put the place out of its misery -- finish what 20 years of Devil's Night have done in a few days.

Are you going to offer the common courtesy of giving the people advanced notice before the barage?

I'd even be for buying them out at 2x their actual property value :) With the level of corruption and general stupid in the place, there must be something wrong with the water. Reloing them would do them a favor.

A bit of digging shows that they were initially conceived and constructed for a classic car show/cruise so that makes sense -- they were popular enough to warrant a few more, and Chevy now sells them in their online store as posters. Its a clever campaign but not likely to get people in the showroom IMO.

Pretty sad if you have to rely on your past to sell your $h#t boxes.

So is calling all of this suff '' Classic Cars '' when they really aren't.

In my opinion, they weren't that great to drive or own. I remember them being called "killer cars"; they were too fast for the suspension, tires and brakes.
Today they are great to look at, listen to and cruise around in; but you can have mine.

Hatterasguy 06-26-2013 06:24 PM

The anti GM crowed is at it again.

Neat billboards.

tbomachines 06-26-2013 06:38 PM

Its sort of like Lincoln bringing all of their nicer classic cars to the car shows...its basically saying "look at what we used to do! We're still great right guys?....guys...?"

Meanwhile, their product line stinks.\

Simpler=Better 06-26-2013 07:16 PM

I honestly don't understand why they don't bring back the classics, with a modern v8, AC, and airbags. The drive train would be easy, and just tweak the dash to have air bags and a modern radio.

Meh, not German.
