Impressive landing
Piedmont 737 landing with the left gear up; as the clip continues (after the gear-up landing) they also show the pilot's attempt to get it to open by "bouncing" the plane down the runway.
I like the one passenger's comments about there being "lots of trips to the bathroom." I can imagine. :D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3syTxW85Ik |
Good job!
What was wedged in the wheel well? |
Apparently they had pulled a wheel chock and set it up there for some reason, and then forgot to pull it out. Once the gear was retracted it fell into a position that blocked the gear from extending.
Doubtless someone got fired over that stupidity, and I'll bet there is an absolute prohibition on putting well, anything, in the wheel wells. ;) |
dayam
I have heard of ppl trying to sneak into the US in the landing gear tunnel of aircraft. Can't say I have heard where it caused any issue with the operation of the landing gear.
Wonder if this scenario is set up in the simulator. |
The times I've heard of that it's been the nose gear, which is a different consideration. In any event, a human would try to stay out of the way of the gear...and if they black out or die from lack of oxygen, the gear won't have much trouble getting past them; people have more, er, give than wheel chocks. ;)
