What is it with prudes and breast feeding in the US???

Country Club Snubs Breastfeeding Mom
Quote:

A Belgian mother and her diplomat husband were thrown out of a posh country club after she breastfed at the table, according to a story published Sunday in the New York Post
Quote:

Shortly after the confrontation, the Greenburgh Police Department arrived. The couple told the Post that Detective Scott Harding yelled, “Close the doors!” and other diners were asked to leave the terrace.

“He was walking as if he was acting in a Western movie,” Neijens said. “He had one hand on his gun, one hand on his Taser.”

The officer reportedly told the couple that they were trespassing and that other patrons at the club believed them to be terrorists because of the black backpack the couple had in their possession. “In Sri Lanka, babies are used by terrorists,” the cop allegedly said.
WTF is wrong with breast feeding. It's not like women are whipping out a tit and plopping it on the table.

F**king pig in blue was jealous, since his mom tried to abort him with a rusty coathanger, failed, and certainly didn't care enough about him to breastfeed. Cop acted totally illegally per NY state law:

Hope he gets sued for all he's got. What a mouth-breathing idiot.

It's all part of North American culture. Breasts have been objectified for so long I'm not sure they will ever be undone. :D

It's completely legal for women to go topless in Canada even though you rarely see it. Even the news stations will blur them out like it's something distasteful or vulgar, and in many ways we are a lot less uptight about things like that here so it's just the way it is I guess.

It's completely legal per case law in NY state (Santorelli decision) as well. The pig was just being an ignorant 'tard, as is too often the case for pigs in blue uniforms.

Even if it weren't legal, NY law guarantees the right to breastfeed in both public and private places.

It seems pretty contradictory to objectify breasts and not want mom's breastfeeding.

I see what you did there;)

I noticed a woman breastfeeding her baby in Inn N Out one day. I thought for a moment and concluded that:

1. I was there for lunch, as were most of the other customers.
2. It must be lunch time for the kid as well.
3. It's all good.

Nothing good or bad involved. It's simply a cultural norm.

A girlfriend of mine when I was in Germany as a young single guy, gave me a surprise one night. She was from a very nice and actually a conservative family. I dropped by her house one night and knocked on the door unannounced. Her Mom answered and invited me in. When I stepped in the door, my girlfriend and her sister were sitting on the couch indian style, facing each other playing cards. They had on pajama bottoms but were both topless.

My girlfriend looked up and said, "let me finish the game" and kept on playing cards for about another minute. Her Mom motioned toward a chair facing them and invited me to sit down. It was quite a pleasant scene and no one in the whole house thought it to be anything out of the ordinary except myself.

People make a big deal out of womens breasts one way or the other, while it is NOTHING but a cultural norm with each culture having a different idea about it.

Personally, I'm a "leg man" anyway.

By state law, the couple did nothing wrong, regardless of whether they were on public or private land. Harrassment of them by that small-minded d**khead of a cop was thus VERY wrong, not to mention grounds for a lawsuit.

We're not talking about a girlfriend playing cards topless (also legal in NY, at least on public land). We're talking about a newborn child eating the food that he was designed to eat, from a convenient source, in a clean and comfortable setting. Would YOU care to eat lunch in a toilet?

Why are you eating my ass out? All I talked about was cultural norms. I don't care when or where a young Mother feeds her baby whether it's with a plastic bottle or the real thing.

I thought he was agreeing with you.

Agreed. I was just saying that it stops being an innocent cultural norm and becomes harassment when a busybody of a cop involves himself (in violation of the law). I'm not mad at you. I'm mad at the cop, who has no clue about the law he's sworn to enforce.

He should have told the country club owner -- "one of your guests is feeding a child. She's within her rights to do so. Nothing I can do for you; I'll be on my way. By the way, beautiful baby." Instead, the twat chose to act like a tough guy.

more pigs out of control, at least he didn't shoot them ot their dog (if they had one with them)

Can't wait until I hear about the feed-in they'll inevitably have. (If you don't know what this is, its a sit-in by breastfeeding moms)

My wife is an LC (Lactation Consultant), she hears about all the garbage that happens to women who nurse in public. (both of my children have breastfed IN the Whitehouse).

But it's not just public places, stores have tried to either have mothers removed or tell them just to use the bathroom. (my favorite reply to that is "do you eat your lunch in the bathroom?") Workplaces are also a big issue, especially if the woman wants to pump milk.

The coolest good story I've heard yet was a woman who worked for a sports coverage station, she worked in one of those rooms with all the monitors, I guess you'd call it a production studio. Anyway, there's no good place for a woman to breastfeed privately in a room with banks of tv screens and a few chairs. And all her coworkers were male. So after learning that she wanted to pump at work, her coworkers installed a cubicle type 3/4 wall on one side of the room so she could work and still have privacy.
