Why do liberals and conservatives hate Rand Paul?

Rand seems to be the only Senator who is against NSA warrantless recording of private communications.

He is the only Senator in favor of state's rights on marijuana regulation.

He is the only Senator in favor of auditing the Federal Reserve.

He is the only Senator in favor of getting US troops out of Afghanistan and keeping them out of Syria, Egypt, and other overseas places.

If the liberals were true to their cause, they would embrace Rand. Instead it appears they are more interested in keeping their power than doing what is right.

Rand is the only Senator proposing a balanced budget.

Rand is one of the few Senators demanding closed borders.

Rand is the only Senator supporting state's rights on many issues.

If the conservatives were true to their cause, they would embrace Rand. Instead it appears they are more interested in keeping their power than doing what is right.

He is a threat to the status quo, where the Demopublicans suck at the teat.

I have discovered on this forum that the liberals, and left leaning folks love taxation, love big government, and the list goes on. Apparently, so does the Right too. So, he's like his father and Rand Paul hates taxes to some degree, hates big government to some degree, and the other basic tenants of Libertarians. Those on the left love the taxes and the gifts. Those on the right love the taxes and big government business. Maybe the voters will stop loving both of these ... Just maybe ...

Closed borders? To where? China?

I do not care for his 'life begins at conception' BS and the fact that he doe snot even want to make allowances for rape and incest. I also think his isolationist views are unrealistic today.

I propose we fly to Pluto. That's about as likely as his proposed balanced budget. Actually, I think flying to Pluto is more likely.

Pro-abortion neocon.

I think you answered your own question right there ;).

Sounds like you should put him up for Messiah!;)

Actually I doubt that any of your statements are true. I do however believe him to be a grandstanding demagogue.

^^^ I'll just bet you have some sort of evidence, otherwise one might be lead to think you just might be making shyte up.

How many GOP senators get valentines day cards from liberals? So, isn't the question better focused on GOP detractors?

BobK 07-16-2013 10:30 AM

I like Rand. He is proposing something different than what we have now. I am not keen on becoming isolationist, but what we have been doing has been less than great so maybe we try a different route and find something in the middle that works better. I want to see government shrink. He is suggesting that. He is suggesting changing drug laws. I support that. He wants to change things and a lot of people don't want that. That is their position. He and I often share a different position. This is all fair and reasonable. Debate is good.

His hair makes me uncomfortable. Something just isn't right.

Seriously, though, a lot of what he says resonates with me. Although while I'm not a single issue voter, his stance on abortion doesn't jibe with my libertarian views.

Absolutely.

t walgamuth 07-16-2013 11:06 AM

What's up with his hair?

Speaking as a proud, follicly-challenged male who is comfortable with his baldness, I urge Senator Paul to be honest about his hairline. His sculpting is by no means the most egregious in D.C. but something just isn't right. It's like the Trump treatment with a perm.

Comb-overs fool no one except the comb-overee!

So that's what it is!
