how to remove VA registration sticker
 

I'm not sure who's the bigger idiot -- the person that decided that registration stickers belong in the middle bottom of the windshield or the person that stuck one over the heated elements in the middle bottom of my wife's minivan windshield.

You folks in VA must deal with this once a year. What do you use to loosen the registration sticker when you can't get in there with a blade?

Not from VA, but in NJ, to remove the adhesive, I either use the razor blade or adhesive remover, one or the other should work.

Failing that try a hairdryer on a low setting to soften up the glue then peel it off.Any residue of the glue should come off with rubbing alcohol or cellulose thinners,Bear

spray some windex on let it sit for about 5 min. and take a razor blade to it I had the same problem with the beach pass on the Carvan.

Many inspection stations in VA have this scraper that looks like a long screwdriver handle (like a foot-long philips) with a razor blade holder welded to the end of it. You can reach into a pretty tight place with that. Of course, they don't always take care to prevent the shreds from falling into the ducts..........

Perhaps this will jog someone's memory that has seen a source for these scrapers......

I can scrape with the best of them. The problem is that my wife's van has heating elements along the edge of the windshield where the sticker is. I'll try the chemical methods mentioned.

Oh, I see. I thought you were referring to defrosting ducts where the hot air comes out. Never seen a vehicle with elements on the inside of the windshield.

We're talking about the safety inspection sticker?

It's mostly paper and glue, so a combination of heat and moisture works well from what I hear. Maybe a wet towel pressed up against it for awhile.......

Did you move from VA or just buy a car that came from VA? Some day I want to drive completely across the country. Maybe in retirement do the "four corners" trip from Maine to Florida to San Diego to Seattle and back to Maine. Wonder if I can do that trip without turning off the engine on the 300D?

if you do break the element discount auto sells a repair kit.

It's a Dodge Grand Caravan with a custom raised top like you see on bigger van conversions. I couldn't find one for sale in my area over the 4 months I looked. Well, there was a new one for $40K. In any case, I found one in VA and had it shipped.

If you see any of the later (96-up) Chrysler minivans, look at the windshield in the area the wipers rest. There are heater elements.

You can spray some windex on it and then cover it up with a piece of saran wrap to let it soak awhile. If it doesn't come off, repeat. Covering the wet sticker with saran wrap seems to be the key. (I'm assuming this is like a standard sticker.)

"GOO-GONE" is made specially for problems like this. haven't seen goo it don't like yet...
