These are getting pretty affordable...

bam

And with the new one coming out very soon, they are going to get even cheaper!

My GMC is having a few issues at the moment, so I am thinking about dumping it and picking one of these bad boys up.

Thoughts? I know these can't quite tow a house like my GMC can, but has enough towing capacity to tow the occasional random purchase home.

When my industry was sinking down the tube about ten years ago, I was picking up extra money doing lease end inspections on BMW's and Rovers. At that time I got the impression that the Rovers were money pits.

IIRC, Rover was sold about that time, so maybe they have gone through some improvement.

My #2 daughter has one. She likes it a lot. It seems to handle well. The electronics are better than the new benz m class her bf has.

You couldn't buy a bigger POS if you tried.

A complete bag of mismatched parts that will decompose as you watch it.

The only worse shytebox is a Humvee.

They haven't.

Total POS. You'd need to be a moron to buy one.

If they are like their 1999 Discovery 2 brothers, then they are big pieces of junk.

This is one of those vehicles that looks so seductive in the showroom - brand cachet, beautifully-appointed interiors, elegant styling...so you sign on the dotted line and drive it home...a few days later a warning light comes on in the instrument cluster, then maybe one of the power door lock actuators stops working...

Give me a Wrangler or Series Land Rover over any land yacht wrapped in a truck body.

I would look at a Toyota Land Cruiser if I was in the market for this type of vehicle.

This is a funny thing to say on a forum filled with used Mercedes owners, but the Rover Sport is the ultimate poseur machine.

I don't know anyone that ever bought one, but all the douche bags I went to high school with had them bought FOR them.

I love the standard Range Rover though, classic and regal, just constantly broken.

Its also laughably ironic that when your American car is having trouble you thought to try to buy something British.

Those have always had some seductive powers over me. I've resisted thus far...

Goodness, no. Fortunately for me I'm quite fond of the more wallet-friendly ones.

Which begs the question as to why anyone would be in the market for this type of vehicle. What is the purpose of this type of vehicle?
