Has anyone used Greyhound for deliveries?

I just purchased 6 rims from a guy and he wants to send them cross country to the local Greyhound station.

How does this work?

Will they call me when they arrive?

Anyone had this experience, good or bad?

Thanks, need to know soonest, if possible.

I lost touch with my buddy years ago. Still waiting for the package to arrive. Not sure if he has gotten a resolution with them yet.

How critical is this package? Why are you considering them?

I have used them about 8 times, from shipping transmissions, hoods, windshields, et cet. Perfect delivery, cheap, and fast. About 4 days from Cali to sunny S.C. and vice-versa. A great alternative to overpriced UPS. Make sure you get insurance, keep in touch with the seller, get the tracking info, and start making calls to the station.

I had a fender shipped to me via Greyhound. They delivered it a couple hundred miles away. Eventually......... it made it though.

I once shipped some 109 doors 1500 miles. The hardest part was wrapping them in cardboard.

Cheapest thing going because they offered me a discount for some reason. They got there with no trouble, but buy insurance if it is offered. The great thing about insurance is that there is some tracking available and if the package goes missing the company will know where to start looking.

Been awhile since I used Greyhound for shipping, but when I did, they provided fast delivery for a good price. Never an issue with damaged freight.

Have used them a few times for bulky items. Prices were very good considering the alternatives and there were no issues. Hoods, fenders, bumpers, etc. were shipped. I would not hesitate to use them again.

daw_two sent me some pieces parts for my TD a few years ago via Greyhound. No issues at all and comparatively inexpensive, especially for larger and light/bulky items. I suppose it would depend on how convenient the location of the station is.

My brother has been shipping snakes on Greyhound buses for years and years. Never had a problem.

Cheap, too.

One thing id do first is cruise by the bus station where the parts will ultimately arrive for you. This is a factor as if its a really small depot (Mine was an office in a train station in southern ct) and if the parts are bulky enough, they might call flipping out all the sudden to get your keister down there and get your stuff ASAP before they leave it outside. If th office is to smal, id consider having the stuff delivered to a bigger bus station even if its the next town over.

For non fragile items same or next day service within 250 miles less than 30% the cost of Fed/ups. That is on a terminal to terminal not door to door. For anything close to fragile I would only go terminal to terminal as they sometimes use taxi cabs to go from terminal to destination door.

In the fifties and sixties "putting it on the bus" was about the closest thing to FedEx that we had.
