My driving school instructor told me about a bank robbery in Lowell once... the thief apparently slipped a note to the teller that said, "I just want $5 for lunch". He got the $, went to get lunch, and was arrested.

I've heard of robberies like that, most likely the robber really was hungry and only needed something to eat. Most likely a homeless individual who saw the robbery as a way to get locked up in jail so that he could get a bed and three squares a day. sad.

That has to be rough - when time in jail looks like a step up. Could well be what happened here. The two perps don't look like they're on top of the world.
