Another nice boat...

1982 Bertram 54' Sportfish Convertible in Fishing Boats | eBay Motors

Always wanted a 54, nothing rides like one in the slop. Its a good Bertram before the Italians ruined them, back when they were proper battle wagons.

Berts are certainly battle wagons and are great in the sloppy stuff but I've never loved their lines (with the exception of the venerable 31 and the Moppies).

You'd get some interesting looks with Bert named "Hatterasguy."

Sell the gear out of it. Move it to the top of a hill and bury it up to the water line.

Hatty hates Cats, though.

That's more my speed.

A few and than I have to do one a year to keep it.

Their are a few nice boats around for sale though. Boattrader has a very nice Hat 46 for $100k that will probably go for a lot less, they also have a 43 for $139k which is quite nice.

MOMMY! 65 Hatteras getting the job done. - YouTube

Well Hatteras is where its at. I don't care what hull design a manufacture brags about, when it gets snotty mass always wins...Hatteras has no problem laying on the glass and making a heavy boat.

Hatteras still makes the nicest boats around, well unless you go with a Striker!

Gunboats are amazing, can't think of a better cruising boat.

As far as the American boating scene - they are the new darlings- and a vortex sucking in all the avalable talent, and North End up in Maine too.
Gunboats molding tecniques are state of the art, and there are some that can do 400 miles a day- one 60 ft just did a 427 mile day.
They are a good bit different than the way I would ( or am going too) build them, I can only afford the analouge teqniques I learned at the beginning of messing with composites. The forks-- or whatever the term for the hulls forward of the deckbridge--is too much, not enough deck, Ide build a "passage maker" two people could live on comfortably-and head wherever they felt like-- and head out to the Azores from Bermuda with confidance.

2005 Voyage 580 Sail Boat For Sale - www.yachtworld.com

IMHO this is the ideal cruising boat. You don't want to much bridge forward or your going to get a lot of hull slap in seas. Cat's already bang around a lot.

Most expensive boat (or vehicle of any kind) that anyone ever let me drive: USS Kamehameha (SSBN-642) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The boat I spent the most time on (three days before we left to amphibiously assault the "Country of Orange" looking suspiciously like Camp Pendleton: USS Ogden (LPD-5) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I like boats, but not enough to actually want to buy one. I do however, know the correct answer to the question, "Hey, you want to come party on my yacht?"
