Purdue Football

After lackluster performances its first two games, Purdue came out slugging last night against the Fighting Irish. They scored first and were In the game up to the last 1/3 of the fourth quarter when ND scored a td to go ahead then PU threw an interception which got run in for a TD. PU scored once more then but lost by the one TD.

I had been afraid they would not be able to get even one first down but they played really well but in the end got worn down by a deep Irish bench and a team that got its stuff together before the end of the game.

As always ND has some great players. The guy who really killed us is Daniels a quick wide receiver who looks to be a head taller than our defender was. That's a tough assignment to defend against a taller player who is very quick and can jump out of the stadium.

It turns out PU has some pretty good talent too but ND's are bigger and just as quick at most positions.

I have not watched the game yet, and will sometime on Monday. Watching a game and knowing the outcome isn't so bad when all I am doing it for is to evaluate the differences in coaching. Any comment on your thoughts of the coaching comparing PU and ND on game day?

I am not really sharp enough to catch anything except the most blatant error. The rules around time outs and so forth are so complicated that I really don't understand much of it.

I do enjoy the athleticism and hard playing of the athletes though and can see the mistakes on pass interference and so forth with the instant replays.

It looked to me as if ND was thrown off balance early by some good hard nosed play by PU but their superior talent and deep bench wore down the Boilers at the end.

It was a huge improvement in play by the Boilers though over their first two games.

By the end of the season the Boilers will be decimated by injuries as usual due again to lack of depth on the bench and will be lucky to beat any quality team with great talent and deep benches.

The first half our Rob Henry was playing with the dash and confidence which made me think of Drew Brees....one of the best ever.
