Charges should be filed and a complete investigation made...

No way was this cop straight/sober/alert.

It's amazing he didn't kill these people.

Dashboard Camera Footage Shows State Trooper Rear-Ending Motorcycle » Motorcycle.com News

Quote:
The graphic video begins with state trooper Jacob Daymon’s car traveling down a poorly-lit stretch of U.S. Route 35 in Greene County, Ohio. A Harley-Davidson carrying the Waldmans appears in the distance but the car appears to maintain its speed right up until it rear ends the couple, sending them tumbling.

In the section of the video which started about a minute before impact, it appeared that the cruiser was wandering a bit. I wonder if the trooper was sleepy or under the influence...

Most likely. It's easy to get a SMIDSY if you aren't looking where you're going. From the pacing of the lane markers I'm estimating 75-80 mph. The Harley looks to have been going 10 to 15 mph slower.

You can tell from the aftermath that somebody wasn't wearing a full face helmet. I bet she does from now on.

That's a possibility as well. The closing speed was pretty significant, no? I wonder if the cycle was doing the speed limit or higher at the moment of impact?

The max speed limit in Ohio is 70, and that road looks like it's probably signed 70 or 65. If my estimates of the speeds are correct, that would put the bike at the speed limit or a little under, and the cop over but not by a whole lot. Even a 10 mph speed difference will result in a pretty hard hit to a motorcycle.
