You have a God who hears you, the Holy Spirit

within you and all of Heaven ahead of you.

You have all you need.

In God We Trust

Here's a refresher on how some of our former patriots handled negative comments about our country!!

WE DON'T DO 'Apology Tours', we liberate and protect freedom!!

JFK'S

Secretary of State, Dean Rusk, was in France in the early 60's when

DeGaulle decided to pull out of NATO. DeGaulle said he wanted all US

Military out of France as soon as possible.

Rusk responded,

"Does that include those who are buried here?"

DeGaulle

Did not respond.

You

Could have heard a pin drop.

When in England ,

At a fairly large conference, Colin Powell was asked by the

Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an example of

'empire building' by George Bush.

He answered by saying,

"Over the years, the United States has sent many of

Its fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom

Beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for

In return is enough to bury those that did not

Return."

You

Could have heard a pin drop.

There was a conference in France

Where a number of international engineers

Were taking part, including French and American. During a break,

One of the French engineers came back into the room saying, "Have you

Heard the latest dumb stunt Bush has done? He has sent an aircraft

Carrier to Indonesia to help the tsunami victims. What does he

Intend to do, bomb them?"

A Boeing engineer

Stood up and replied quietly: "Our carriers have three

Hospitals on board that can treat several hundred people; they are

Nuclear powered and can supply emergency electrical power to

Shore facilities; they have three cafeterias with the capacity to

Feed 3,000 people three meals a day, they can produce several thousand

Gallons of fresh water from sea water each day, and they carry half a

Dozen helicopters for use in transporting victims and injured to and

>From their flight deck. We have eleven such ships;

How many does France have?"

A U.S. Navy Admiral

Was attending a naval conference that included

Admirals from the U.S., English, Canadian, Australian and French

Navies At a cocktail reception, he found himself standing with a large

Group of officers that included personnel from most of those countries.

Everyone was chatting away in English as they sipped their drinks but a

French admiral suddenly complained that, whereas Europeans learn many

Languages, Americans learn only English. He then asked, "Why is it that

We always have to speak English in these conferences rather than

Speaking French?"

Without hesitating,

The American Admiral replied, "Maybe it's because the

Brit's, Canadians, Aussie's and Americans arranged it so you wouldn't

Have to speak German."

AND

THIS STORY FITS RIGHT IN WITH THE ABOVE...

Robert Whiting,

An elderly gentleman of 83, arrived in Paris by plane.

At French Customs, he took a few minutes to locate his passport

In his carry on.

"You

Have been to France before, monsieur?" the customs officer asked

Sarcastically.

Mr. Whiting

Admitted that he had been to France

Previously.

"Then

You should know enough to have your passport ready."

The American said,

"The last time I was here, I didn't have to show it."

"Impossible..

Americans always have to show their passports on arrival in France !"

The American senior

Gave the Frenchman a long hard look. Then he

Quietly explained, ''Well, when I came ashore at OmahaBeach on D-Day in

1944 to help liberate this country, I couldn't find a single Frenchmen

To show a passport to."

Thanks very much for posting this Jim!

Forwarded emails are always chuck full o'facts. Pardon me while I go claim my Nigerian millions.

elchivito 09-18-2013 08:58 AM

This one's pretty long in the tooth, going all the way back to Liberty Fries days.

JB3 09-18-2013 09:07 AM

I seriously doubt Degaulle would have been quiet enough for a pin drop. Given his incredibly inflated ego and personality, he probably would have said "yes" to Rusk without a pause.

We have enough real things to be proud of as Americans, that this type of circle jerk forwarded email full of silly anecdotes is pretty unnecessary.

If you rely on this crap to support your sense of patriotism, then you probably also constantly post unsubstantiated and false news sources that stroke your fear of the moment. Oh wait..........

Yep...... old stuff. And here in the east, the term was "Freedom Fries" which was first coined by one Walter Jones, Republican, NC-3rd Congressional Dist. Jones led an effort to have the House cafeteria rename french fries to freedom fries. NC-3, btw, is home to Ft. Bragg, Camp LeJune and Seymour Johnson AF Base. Heavily military area.
Jones, btw, was the first Republican to break ranks with the Bush Adminstration on Iraq. He was for it before he was against it.

I find it odd that Dudesky would follow that OP with such a disrespectful reply. Obama's greeting was in keeping with etiquette and with the way our presidents greet foreign dignitaries. Obama seems to think that one way to get respect is to give it. It must he a Kenyan thing.

Man,
I got a classic yesterday. From a woman in the Phillipines diagnosed with breast cancer. Wanted to leave 750,000 to a US charity but first I had to promise I wouldn't steal the money.

The message came into my Outlook junk box. It said that it was listed as spam because of internet connection problems and to first move it to your in box to read it normally. Ding Ding Ding!!!!
It also had a imbedded tab "instructions" I'm sure a click there would have been a wise move too! Ding Ding Ding.!!!

The thing looked so toxic I was afraid to even copy and paste the text to show here. Flushed it right down the delete tube. :D:D

Good to know this is still being circulated through PP emails...

Not too familiar with military policy but I would not think a high value target like a carrier would be parked dock side in a foreign country providing power, water and food for the indigenous people. Helicopters yes but I call BS on the rest.

Anyone know if this ever happened?

Dave, AFAIK the Navy doesn't tie carriers to piers in foreign lands. One exception is probably the carrier that is home-ported in Japan. I forget which one is home ported there now, but until a couple of years ago, it was the USS Kitty Hawk.

Routinely, when there is a natural disaster, the United States Navy lends a hand. Think Haiti, Sri Lanka, and Fukishima. Carriers were sent to each. IIRC, the Lincoln went to Sri Lanka and the George Washington was diverted to Japan. They anchor off shore and helo food, water & med supplies to aid native populations. The Naval hospital ships (USNS vessels) also are sent where and as needed.

Lincoln Strike Group Winds Down Active Engagement in Operation Unified Assistance

When disaster occurs in foreign lands, and the phone rings in the White House, the first question a president asks is "Where are the carriers?".
Kudos to Obama for reminding the world leaders at the G20 that its his job as president to answer the calls the others make to him asking for help.

davidmash 09-18-2013 12:24 PM

That is my understanding as well. The OP is a nice feel good but I doubt much if any of it is true.
