And they wonder why we hate them.....
In an argument against a special exemption allowing Hill staffers to buy health insurance, one lawmaker said he’s “stuck” making $172,000 a year, while aides will go on to make in big bucks lobbying on K Street, according to a report. Oh, the poor dears, suffering so for my benefit! It would do wonders for the republic if congress cut to part-time and the president got a second job.

Someone should advise this greedball to cut his career in public service short and move to his waiting lobbyist position a little earlier than planned.

He is a perfect example of the idiots in congress on BOTH sides of the aisle.
The best thing we could do is take Bot's comments one step farther and pay the same monthly rate, except pay them for only one month per year and have congress in session only one month per year. THEN, make them have the SAME insurance, the SAME retirement plan and the SAME EVERYTHING as everybody else instead of their special privileges. Just to show how generous I am, I will offer them a HEFTY bonus that will be paid on the day that they balance the budget and pay off the debt. |

Go the other way in regards to health insurance. Instead of going with obamacare put all US citizens on the same plan as the politicians get.

Yee hah! Works for me. I would never be out another penny for healthcare the rest of my long life! Of course, if we did that, the cost to the US govt. would probably double the US debt in about a year. |

You're exactly right. In the early years, most all politicians were public servants who sacrificed in order to their duty for their country. Now, the career politicians sit around and ***** about only making $175K a year along with massive, special benefits that very few of the rest of us enjoy. I live not far from the home of Sam Rayburn. He spent a few decades in Congress including a stint as Speaker of the House. He took one trip during his tenure to observe the progress of the Panama Canal and paid all the expenses himself. There aren't any like him in Congress any more. Bunch of bastards! |
