Did it ever occur to you that they might not want or need your business?

Before I was in the oil biz I worked in an auto repair shop. I guess I was rather talented at it since I was running the place three days a week when I was sixteen.

I analyzed our customers and found that 90% of our complaints came from about 2% of our customers, so I just made an executive decision and told them to never come back.

A few months later the owner remarked on what a great job we must all be doing since our complaints had dropped to almost nothing.

A business might be open to all, but if there is a type of business that is not wanted all a company has to do is create a situation where the type of people they do not wish to serve do not wish to buy there.

Republicans do it all the time. If there is a legal business they don't like they pass laws making it impossible for that business to operate in their state. Oddly enough you don't seem to have any problem with that, so why are you so concerned about this?

Larry, the way you and others wet yourselves ranting about constitutional rights over what is really an issue of private business conducting itself as it sees fit, legally, on private property -an issue you also claim is important to "conservatives"- would have truly made me chuckle if it weren't so utterly predictable.

I don't care for Starbucks, their coffee is insipid, absurdly expensive and the employees are snotty tatoo'd inked up boors whose appearance offends me. Having said that, good for them. It's their business and I'd bet that a boycott of their stores by every nutcase in the country who doesn't feel safe without his weapon on him while he buys a Venti latte half-caf mochachino poopoo frappe wouldn't put even the least little dent in their bottom line. In fact, I'll wager it helps their business.

I think I may have written about a confrontation I had with two guys from some gun-controlled state, maybe it was CT I don't know. Anyhow they open carried into our tasting room and made a huge stink about their constitutional rights to open carry in Arizona. I told them they could carry, but couldn't drink. Want wine? put your pieces in the car and come back. One took his weapon out and the other folded his arms and stood there like some kind of self-righteous douche and watched his son taste wine. I hope he enjoyed himself. We now have a state approved NO FIREARMS sign posted on both entrance doors. Are some carrying concealed? Maybe, we don't frisk. So far I haven't seen anybody "printing" but if I do I'll ask them to leave . At least we won't have to deal with dipsticks like those two again. Like it or not, open carry makes lots of people nervous. If one person open carrying makes another customer nervous, it's not worth it. Exercise your "right" to be a douchebag someplace else.

This man is wearing camo at Starbucks in order to be invisible. Or something.
I wonder what Daddy Bubba's gonna drop first when somebody decides to disarm him from behind?

What some in this thread are missing is the back story of how Starbuck's came to take this action in the first place. So much easier to foam at the mouth ranting about "liberal bastards" and betray your ignorance.

Grant Cunningham, a gunsmith and "revolver specialist" I greatly admire, put's it into perspective nicely. Warning, the link below contains words.

It's a private business and private land -- he doesn't have to allow political rallies in his stores either, despite there being a First Amendment

Though personally, I'm not too keen on Charbuck's anyway:
(a) it's a chain
(b) their coffee isn't good

This just about sums up everything that is wrong with people and the idiocy about allowing people to openly carry around firearms in a public setting in this day and age.

Only an idiot feels the need to carry around a piece when they're going wine tasting.

If I were genuinely concerned about my safety I would carry one concealed anyway, (as I used to do many years ago) never openly. Obviously people who have concealed guns have patronized and will continue to patronize Starbucks. But if the kinds of nuts like that idiot with the AR15 in that picture think they are doing the 2nd amendment any good they deserve a hefty kick in the ass.

Exactly.

Thanks for posting that link. I agree completely with Schultz.

I did indeed read his liberal writings. Not very smart for a CEO with the responsibility for making jobs for his employees. If he cared anything about them or the constitution, he would have kept his liberal trap shut.
No you didn't. You clearly have no understanding of how this entire thing came about. I dare you to quote a single thing Schultz has said that demonstrates his "contempt" for your constitutional rights.

I don't think it should be illegal. I do think it should be considered rude unless you have good reason to do so (carry a lot of cash for business, security guard, etc).

I like the way the law is set up in Vermont; basically unrestricted carry subject to private property owners being able to set rules. But crime isn't rampant, so there's not a lot of fear and people generally DON'T carry.

If he is so concerned about his ability to defend himself, perhaps he should move to the low-fat lattes and buy a gym membership. I wonder if Planet Fitness allows open carry?

I wouldn't dream of open carry in public other than going to-from my car, to-from the range, or while hunting. To me it is a right to carry a firearm (if you're but batshyte crazy or a felon). But it is also an unnecessary burden on my neighbors to give them the heebie-jeebies merely because I can. Being considerate and polite doesn't threaten my constitutional rights.

If I want to carry in public it's for a reason and it's concealed.
