The new iPhone 5S / C
I have been mulling it over... The new iPhone 5S is sold in the same color as my car! I been very tempted and my kid needs a new iPhone since he dropped his last one in the creek. My youngest, who I call "Tron" because every time I see him he's jacked in soaking up at least 1/3 of the household bandwidth should get my old iPhone 5 and my oldest who dropped his iPhone 4 into the creek will get demoted to an iPhone 3S.
I am a big iPhone fan. More than anything I like to beehatch at Apple when something goes wrong. They take it on the chin pretty good and ole' Siri have effectively become my defacto "beehach". I'm totally sucked into this Apple thing, knowing darn well it hates my PC. Every time I plug in my iPhone and turn on iTunes I can’t help but think of a little battle inside my computer reminiscent of that commercial where the iPhone owners do battle with the Android users, and that bearded guy tears open his shirt showing a large black Apple tattoo while lunging and screaming. Sometimes I think that's just what’s going on when you plug an Apple into a PC. LOL Still, it's proven Apple users get laid 3-4 times more than Android users and that small fact alone is worth the price of admission. While I am not 18 I still like to brag about having sex all the time, even if Ron says that means I don't get any. LOL So here I am, on the precipice of getting in deep with AT&T for another contract to get subsidized for the new phone, or just taking it dry for the full MSRP. Right now I’m on the unlimited plan with my phone, but I been getting by with $10 a month go-phone re-fills with the kids. I know there are way better things I should be doing. But damn, the gold one matches the color of my car! That aught to be reason enough right there don’t you think? Do you think the wife will buy that? Last edited by SELLC; 09-20-2013 at 01:41 AM. |

The color of my phone is at the VERY bottom of my priority list.
The only reason I have an IPhone rather than anything else is because Foreflight, the best Aviation App available only runs on the IPhone and IPad. |

Good 'ol dumbphone here and loving it.
I'll probably get a no-contract tablet or convertible netbook in the next few weeks (Android, Linux, or Windows 8 Pro, not crippled crap unless Apple comes out with a full OS X touchscreen netbook!). |

I'm still running a 4G and will until it's non-functional (the home button is on it's way out so I use the virtual home button through the Accessibility options). I was thinking of going with a 5S once the hooplah quiets down (probably when the 6 comes out...) but am seriously considering a Galaxy or Windows phone the next time around.

I use a basic feature phone along with a wi-fi based Android device. Saves a $$$. Paying $30 a month for a data plan is ridiculous. And I'm in the technology field.
iPhones are junk compared to the latest android and windows phone offerings. I guess they are good if you like locked down incapable devices at inflated prices.

Windows 8 RT/Phone? Micro$h1t locks it down almost as much, though it's easier to circumvent. The interesting thing is that several more open phone platforms may roll out in 2014 (Ubuntu, Firefox, and Tizen). Here's hoping! I'm also in the tech field and I'm going for a similar solution to you (though I used to have an iPhone till it was stolen). A tablet's bigger screen is just more suited for doing things other than media consumption. |

I just upgraded to the new IOS7 and I am very unhappy with the color scheme and layout. It's so bland!
I think I am going to hold off on a new iPhone because since the passing of Steve Jobs I think Apple has gone off their rocker. I wrote this thread last night before actually using the new IOS7 and I can not stand how my phone looks now. I want to go back to the IOS6 because whoever designed this new IOS7 must have been a complete idiot when it comes to graphics and color combos. How could Apple dump on its customers such a nasty GUI? I feel like I have been violated! Apple better do something to fix this! FAST! |

Apple is not off their rocker, Apple is out of ideas. You can only sell consumer products on a "its awesome because we say it is!" basis for so long....eventually you run out new ideas. Their product line is aging, their OS is nothing special, and their phones are behind the times and restrictive. They are doomed.

I have no problems with iOS 7, especially since it was free and added features.
Through a combination of personal phones and work issued, earlier this year I found myself on the road from PHX to Sedona, AZ and where a 3GS and a 4S could not get an AT&T cell signal, the iPhone 5 had at least 2 bars in the same spot. Apple doomed? Sure, go ahead and believe that if you like. |

Eh, I'll upgrade my both of my parents to iPhone 5s's when the hype dies down.
They are great devices for people that want a device that just works. The support - is hands down - the best out there. I don't want to have to provide tech support to my parents or friends when their phone is having issues - I just send them to the Apple store, who takes care of any and all issues with a smile. There was a point in time where I didn't mind lending a helping hand, and showing people how to do things/fix things, but with my time becoming more and more scarce, my time has become more valuable to me.

I have no complaints with the actual functionality of the new iOS 7 software it's just the look. Seems bland and I liked much better the green bubbles for texting as opposed to the new blue ones. The phone still operates like a champ but it feels like it was wrapped in a generic skin. All of the detail has been sapped out of the new skin. No longer are the icons highly detailed, rather they are plain and cheap looking. The camera software has been improved but I think the layout is also too plain. I was hoping the more and more I used it I'd like it, but that's just not the case. I can't seem to escape the feeling this less than stellar lay out does not represent the kind of quality and attention to detail Apple has become famous for. I'm all for change! But I want change for the better! It's nice to see that my clock icon is now a functional one. The dynamic wallpaper was also long overdue. But why this step back in the "look"? |

Android is cool. I wouldn't use CreepMail for anything personal or confidential. But Android works just as well with Zarafa or basic IMAP hosted on a private server.
