Road rage shootout leaves two drivers dead | wzzm13.com

Ionia, Mich. (September 18, 2013)

Two drivers are dead after a road rage incident escalated into a shootout. The incident happened around 6:45 p.m. Wednesday on M-66 near Steele Street.

Witnesses tell WZZM 13 one driver was following another driver too closely. The first driver pulled into the Wonder Wand Car Wash parking lot and the other driver followed him into the lot.

Witnesses say the driver of the following car fired shots, and the first driver returned fire. Both drivers were shot and killed. Authorities say both men had licenses to carry concealed weapons.

The victims are both from Ionia. Robert Taylor, 56, was driving a Chrysler PT Cruiser. The other driver, James Pullum, 43, was driving a Ford Taurus. According to Police, Pullum had two passengers in his vehicle, but neither was injured.

People at a nearby laundromat found both men lying on the ground and started performing CPR. AeroMed was called to the scene and landed, but did not transport a patient to the hospital.

Ionia -- wonder if they were prison guards. If so, couldn't happen to nicer people. Good riddance.

No, I just dislike the incarceration system and people who work for it as a matter of principle. People who do violence for a living meeting a violent end -- call it karma. It's a national disgrace that we keep almost 1% of our population locked up at any given time, and disturbing that some towns have almost as many convicts as people, Ionia being one of them.

Though it looks like the guy who DIDN'T shoot first was a mechanic and a decent man. No word on the other guy:

Ask friends and neighbors about a killer and 98% of the time the answer will be: "he was a friendly and a good guy."

In this case, looks like the mechanic was the victim, though he saved the state of MI the cost of prosecuting his murderer.

That's like the people who spit on our returning draftees from Vietnam. Its not the foot soldier who decides how the system is going to be. He's just a poor sap trying to put food on his table....same with a prison guard.

"Just following orders" is a poor excuse. And prison guards, cops, etc aren't draftees.

Who said anything about following orders? Just because our incarceration system is wrong-minded does not make every person in it a bad person.

They were owners of a PT Cruiser and a Taurus? Perhaps this was just a case of mutual euthanasia...
